FF Code : W.B./ MON (Julfikar Ali)/
District- Murshidabad/ Jan-19/1/2008 SL NO-155
Victim(s) : Mujibor Seikh
Perpetrator(s) : 1) Prosenjit Sarkar, PC 2) BSF 3) Mathu, SI
Location : Bamnabad BSF Camp, Raninagar
Date of incident : 22/11/2007
Case Details:
Victim Mujibor Seikh, aged 37, is a cultivator residing in NolBona Colony, falling under the jurisdiction of
Jalangi Police Station. The victim had gone to Bamnabad Out-Post on 22 nd November 2007 for
submitting his voter identity card, in order to take permission for cultivating his land which is near the
Indo-Bangladesh border. His name was not enlisted in the BPL (Below Poverty Line) Scheme. When
Mujibor reached the camp he was subjected to severe assault by few jawans, following which he
received treatment at Sagar Para PHC. There were severe injuries all over his body. The reason
behind this vengeance is that Mujibor served as an agent for the BSF Officials, in effectuating the illegal
practices. There were many agents like Mujibor. Due to lack of money the victim couldn’t become
close with the BSF. One day he informed D.I.B Probodh Singh, of Bamnabad BSF Camp about a
smuggler named Gopal Mondal who was going to export Phensedyl (drug). Thus a disagreement took
place between the victim and other smugglers, the result of which Mujibor quit smuggling. After the
incident that took place on 22 nd November 2007 the victim was called to the camp many times by the SI
in order to negotiate but Mujibor never went. His voter identity card is also seized and he is leading a
miserable life.
