The victim was arrested during the early hours of 12 th February 2008 from Sonachura village, alleging him of inciting the people with ‘Maoist Propaganda’. Sudhanshu Das, the organizer of Bhumi Uchched Protirodh Committee was also arrested the same day. The police surreptitiously added several documents in the ‘seizure list’ prepared in the case, which Mithu never distributed. The victim was regularly visiting Nandigram since the outburst of people’s struggle. He also authored many literatures which appeared in the publications of organizations like SANDHIKSHAN, SRAMIK ISTAHAAR, and KRISHAK PATH. The complaint against Mithu was submitted before the ACJM,Haldia, which also contained the names of the above mentioned editors. A well known cultural activist, Jolly Bagchi by name was also included in the complaint, alleging all of them to have involved in conspiracy in waging war against the state. On 19 th March 2008 the arrested persons were produced before the magistrate but the court rejected their bail petition. The members of SSC and that of other organizations visited the CID, and DIG ventilating their grievances against the arbitrary police action. FF Code : W.B./MON(GCS)/ District-Murshidabad/Jan-02/01/2007 /Sl No.-148 Victim(s) : 1) Mohidul Mondol 2) Josim Seikh Perpetrator(s) : Bosiruddin Ahmed, SI Location : Rajshahi Central Jail, Bangladesh Date of incident : 06/09/2006 Case Details: Victims Josim Seikh, Mohidur Mondol and Sapatullah Sarkar are fishermen residing at Murshidabad. On 6 th Sep. 2006 the victims had gone fishing, during which they were arrested by the Bangladesh Rifle (BDR) Camp, which was led by SI Bosiruddin Ahmed. arrested the victims. They were taken to the camp, from where Sapatullah Sarkar managed to escape the next day. Mohidul and Josim were produced before Rajshahi Court. Lieutenant Colonel Insad Ibne Amin investigated the case and he alleged them of smuggling prohibited drugs. A complaint was send to the IG of BSF (Border Security Force) on 9 th Sep. 2006 but no step was taken. The victims were once again produced before Rajshahi Court on 5 th Sep. 2006, and the Assistant Sessions Judge declared the victims innocent, and gave orders to send them back to their native land. Despite this fact Mohidul and Josim are still languishing in Rajshahi Central Jail without getting any proper food. No.–134 Victim(s) : 1) Momin Sarder 2) Mina Sarder Perpetrator(s) : 1) Nasim Akhtar, OIC 2) Azzed Ali Molla Location : Basanti PS, West Bengal Date of incident : 08/01/2008 Case Details: Victim Momin Sarder, aged 35, is a resident of Sonakhali Bazar village. His 11 year old daughter Raosanara Sarder was found missing from 10 th November 2007. The victim and his wife Mina Sarder lodged a complaint at Basanti Police Station the same day. Azzad Molla informed the parents of Raosanara that she was seen at Haldia, and assured to rescue her. But Momin and Mina were cheated by him, who drove them away stealing their money and mobile. On 13 th January 2008 Momin went to Basanti Police Station for lodging a complaint but the officials behaved rudely and alleged him of intentionally selling his daughter. On 26 th January 2008 Raosanara’s parents again went to the police station and talked with the newly appointed OIC Rameshwar Ojha. But again they had to face ill treatment in the hands of the police. They were threatened to be filed under false charges. In the meantime, Parbati and Madhabi Shaw, who were responsible for abducting Raosanara, entered into the police station and forcibly pushed the victims outside the station. Momin and Mina returned home disappointed, with no cooperation from the police. The victim belongs to a poor family. On 16 th January 2008 Mukbul was caught by few BSF Officials during midnight and subjected to brutal torture.
