Case Details:<br />
Victim Ranjit Kar, S/o Himanshu Kar- Sumati Kar is a resident of Baisnabpara, falling within the<br />
jurisdiction of Shibpur Police Station. The victim had got sanctioned a plan to construct a house from<br />
Howrah Municipal Corporation. Arati Das, being envied lodged a complaint at Shibpur Police Station to<br />
prevent the construction and also filed a civil case before District Sessions Judge in the month of May<br />
2007. But the judgment came in favour of the victim on 20 th August 2008; but Ranjit was not able to<br />
continue the construction work because of police disturbances. Police frequently visited his house and<br />
threatened not to carry out the work. The masons were forced to stop construction. Ranjit was forced to<br />
appear at the station on a daily basis. On 23 rd January 2008 police ordered the victim to completely stop<br />
the construction work, but Ranjit ignored the threats and continued his work.<br />

Case Details:<br />
Victims Ichhahaque Mallik and Ersad Ali are brothers, residing in Hariharpur village, falling under the<br />
jurisdiction of Bagdah Police Station. On 18 th August 2008 the victims were arrested by the 2 nd Officer<br />
of Bagdah Police Station from their home, neither issuing any memo of arrest nor telling the reason.<br />
They were filed under a false theft case. On 19 th August 2008 the victims were produced before the<br />
ACJM of Bongaon after medical treatment at Bagdah Rural Hospital. They were sent to jail custody and<br />
released under bail on 10 th September 2008. The intention behind these incidents is that, a local<br />
smuggler Saiad Mondal tried to smuggle car from India to Bangladesh. Ichhahque noticed this and<br />
prevented him from carrying this activity. The car was seized by the BSF Officials, which paved way for<br />
a grudge. The DIB of BSF Camp talked with the family of the victims regarding the matter and assured<br />
to take initiative to make the victims free.<br />
