Case Details:
Victim Aftab Alam Ansari, aged 27 works in the Emergency Department of Calcutta Electric Supply
corporation (C.E.S.C). The victim is the sole bread winner of the family. On 17 th December 2007 two
unknown men came to the locality searching for a man named Altab. They talked with the mother of the
victim and came to know that her son’s name was Aftab. The strangers came back on 22 nd December
2007 also. On 27 th December 2007, these persons called Aftab over phone, having got his number and
called to him Chiriamore. The victim went to the place and he was trapped by the CID. Aftab was
dragged inside an ambassador car, and later detained in an apartment near VIP road. The officials
subjected him to physical and mental torture, compelling him to confess that he was a terrorist trained in
Bangladesh. Aftab denied and stated that he has valid identity proofs. Ayesha Begum, the mother of the
victim lodged a missing diary in Chitpore Police Station on 28 th December 2007, and the next day she
came to know from a newspaper report that her son was arrested by the CID. On 30 th December 2007
she went to the CID Office at Bhavani Bhavan and knew that Aftab was to be produced before Chief JM
Court, Lucknow on 2 nd January 2008. The victim was handed to the STF of Lucknow, who too tortured
him at their quarter. He was sent to High Security Jail on 2 nd January 2008, from where he was taken to
the Court. The case was dismissed on 14 th January 2008 and the victim was found innocent. Aftab was
released on 16 th January 2008 from the jail, following which he returned to Kolkata. Written applications
were sent to the CM demanding money, and Aftab received only Rs.30,000. At present he is under
treatment.

Case Details:
Victim Asadul Mondal, aged 35 is a resident of Hariharpur village, falling under the jurisdiction of Bagdah
Police Station. On 2 nd July 2008 the victim went to his field for cultivation with a bag of 22 kilograms of
fertilizer, after registering his name at the gate of BSF. While working in the field a BSF Official of
Madhupur Camp started beating him with the branch of a tree. Asadul fell down, and he was dragged to
the camp holding the collar of his shirt. At the camp the victim was forced to lie down to the floor and
