The matter was taken to Jinjira Investigation Center but in vain. Finally a case was filed in the Court.<br />

Despite this fact, the police failed to arrest the perpetrators though there was an arrest warrant against<br />

them. In the meanwhile the perpetrators snatched the key of the club, and threatened the victim to stop<br />

the sports function. Victim Biswajit Bag was also attacked on 23 rd December 2007. Though the matter<br />

was taken to the police, they advised to settle the matter and not approach them. Thus the perpetrators<br />

totally stopped the activities of the club. On 2 nd January 2007 and 3 rd January 2008 complaints were<br />

send Maheshtala Police Station and the SP via post, but not action followed.<br />

Case Details:<br />

Narayanipur village was facing political disturbances due to the ensuing election. The members of the<br />

ruling CPI(M) Party were always trying to create problems with the Trinamul Congress Party. Subodh<br />

Halder was a drunkard residing in the area, who was also a supporter of the ruling party. He often beat<br />

up any person with no cause. Though police were informed of this they didn’t take any action because<br />

he was a supporter of CPI(M). On 24 th April 2008 this Subodh tried entering the house of victim Tarun<br />

Halder. A scuffle picked up between the family of the victim and Subodh. The latter fell upon a heap of fuel<br />

and got his hand injured. In the morning there was a clamor, and Tarun’s family went to lodge a<br />

complaint at Mathurapur Police Station. But the members of CPI(M) had already filed a false case, with<br />

the purpose of creating a political complexity with this incident. A complaint was filed against Tarun, and<br />

he was arrested on 25 th April 2008 without producing an arrest memo. On 26 th April 2008 the victim was<br />

produced before Diamond Harbour Court and released on bail the same day. The police state that they<br />

took this step to curb the disturbances that were popping up in the locality.<br />

Victim Tojameel Hoque, an Indian citizen, residing in Forajipara village, falling under the jurisdiction of<br />

Jalangi Police Station was arrested by the BDR (Bangladesh Rifle) Officials of Alaipur on 13 th August<br />

2007. He was surrendered to Bagha Police Station, and filed under a false case dated 14 th August 2007.<br />

Following this Tojameel was produced before the First Class Magistrate at Rajshahi Court, who<br />
