Case Details:<br />
Kashi Rao, aged 36, is a doctor residing in Nanda Ghosh Road, falling under the jurisdiction of Golabarai<br />
Police Station. He was married to Padma Rao and both have an eight year old son named Suraj Rao.<br />
On 18 th August 2003 the boy was playing in the ground and never returned home after a long time.<br />
Padma received a phone call from some stranger, stating that her son was safe in their house, but later<br />
on she didn’t receive any call. That very day Kashi Rao and Padma lodged a missing diary in Golabari<br />
Police Station. Kashi kept connections with Bally Police Station, Howrah Police Station, Shibpur Police<br />
Station and Lal bazaar Police Station but they couldn’t find their son. The police officials couldn’t give a<br />
satisfactory answer, and it should be noted that a number of children are missing from this area.<br />

Victim Sridam Mondal, aged 23 is a resident of Char Rajanagar village, falling under the jurisdiction of<br />
Raninagar Police Station. On 29 th March 2008 the victim was bathing in River Padma. At that time two<br />
BSF Officials called him from behind. Sridam couldn’t hear for the first time and responded to the second<br />
call. The officials were enraged and hit his jaw with their fists, causing him to fall. They inquired him about<br />
the people involved in smuggling cattle. When Sridam denied knowledge of the same he was again<br />
subjected to severe blows. The victim’s wife Dipali Mondal rushed to the spot hearing her husband<br />
shout and somehow rescued him from their hands. After these things, a complaint was lodged at<br />
Raninagar Police Station dated 29 th March 2008. Sridam didn’t receive treatment for many days, and<br />
after his jaw and chest started paining he got himself treated in Godhanpara PHC. Despite the complaints<br />
lodged, Raninagar Police didn’t take any action against the perpetrators.<br />
