Case Details:
Victim Sk. Nasim, aged 35, is a mason residing in Pilkhana. He was married to Mehajabeen Khatoon
and both have a three year old son named Sohaib Akhtar. On 5 th October 2007 Sohaib went out from his
house for purchasing a car from the shop, having taken Re.1 from his mother. But he never returned
and the couple searched for him in all possible places to find him nowhere. The victims went to Golabari
Police Station and filed a missing diary. They also searched in various orphanage homes but couldn’t
find. Nasim and Mehajabeen went to the police station repeatedly inquiring about their son, owing to
which the police asked them not to come any more and just trust on the police.

Case Details:
Victim Sreoshi Laha (a) Jhimli, aged 13 is the daughter of Salil Kumar Laha and Shyamali Laha. The
family resides in College Street, falling under the jurisdiction of Muchipara Police Station. On 20 th March
2007 Sreoshi was taken to a brothel home at Prem Chand Baral Street by a lady named Mira Das. The
victim’s Uncle Swapan Laha, Aunt Rina Laha and Cousin Srabanti Sinha were directly involved in this
conspiracy. She was forced to satisfy the sexual desire of one Pradip, and threatened not to disclose
the matter to anybody. They gave her money in order to shut her mouth, and also bought her a mobile.
Somehow Salil, her father came to know of the matter and lodged a complaint in Muchipara Police
Station. The SI having investigated the place of incident assured to take action, but in vain. The police
tried to avoid the matter and drove Salil away from the station. On 3 rd August 2008 Salil sent a complaint
to the DC of Detective Department, who in turn directed Muchipara Police Station to deal with the issue.
The perpetrators in the meanwhile threatened the family of the victim for approaching the police. Salil
was a heart patient and hearing the threats of the perpetrators to make his daughter a prostitute, he died
of heart attack on 4 th February 2008. On 7 th February 2008 Shyamali, the wife of the deceased lodged
a complaint before Immoral Traffic Section, following which a case was started against the perpetrators.
On 14 th March 2008 Shyamali informed the Commissioner of Police about the negligence of the police.
But till date the victims have not got justice.
