Case Details:<br />

Victim Ram Prasad Kundu is a resident of Debalaya village, falling under the jurisdiction of Deganga<br />

Police Station. On 9 th December 2007, the above mentioned perpetrators trespassed into the boundary<br />

of the victim’s house and started cutting the jack fruit tree. When Ram Prasad and his wife Jharna Kundu<br />

protested, the perpetrators assaulted them with sharp weapons. They also abused the victims with filthy<br />

words. Jhanra was humiliated, and the perpetrators broke a finger on her left hand, causing severe<br />

blood injury. Ram Prasad went to Deganga Police Station, but the officer on duty just filed a FIR on 10<br />

th<br />

December 2007, and didn’t take any further action. Jharna was hospitalized. On inquiry, the SI of the<br />

station stated that the charge sheet has been submitted and the case is handled by the Court.<br />

Case Details:<br />

Victim Ramrati was a mentally ill patient residing in Uttarpara Women Vagabond Home for the past 43<br />

years. She died in the home on 27 th March 2008. Uttarpara Police were informed about the death over<br />

phone. A. Sharma, the ASI of the station went to the home, saw the body, talked with the manager and<br />

went back. He informed his higher authorities but nobody responded. The body remained in the home<br />

the whole day owing to the negligence of the SP. Finally the body was taken to Walls Hospital, Serampore<br />

for post mortem but there was a dispute between the executive and the judiciary as to who will inquest the<br />

body. Finally the post mortem was conducted on 30 th March 2008 and stated that the death was an<br />

unnatural one. Of late it came to light that the body was not disposed till 2 nd April 2008.<br />
