Case Details:<br />

Victim Kapil Deo Singh was a resident of Madanpur village of Bihar state. He took voluntary retirement<br />

from his service at Reckit Benckiser and got some money as his service benefit. The victim was<br />

introduced to Sanjay Sarkar of Kolkata by Anupam Roy Chowdhury. The former approached Kapil to<br />

invest money in his business and promised to return the same within 45 days. Accordingly Kapil<br />

handed Rs.3,00,000 to him on 23 rd August 2004. But the victim was deceived by Sanjay, who refused<br />

to pay even after repeated insistences. Kapil lodged complaints against the perpetrators at Behala<br />

Police Station on 4 th December 20<strong>05</strong> and at Purba Jadavpur Police Station on 21 st March 2006. A<br />

written complaint was also send to the SP, but the police remained silent over the complaints. The<br />

perpetrators getting aware of the complaints lodged started torturing the victim’s family mentally and<br />

caused them to vacate Kolkata. Right now the family of Kapil is residing in Bihar, being pushed to a poor<br />

economic status. The police were trying to suppress the matter and washed their hands stating that the<br />

matter is very old. A new complaint needs to be filed in Behala and Purba Jadavpur Police Stations but<br />

the victim is not in a condition to come to Kolkata due to financial constraints. Moreover he states that the<br />

police failed to render security for the victim and his family.<br />

Case Details:<br />

Victim Khodabox Mondal, aged 48, is a resident of Maniknagar village, falling under the jurisdiction of<br />

Domkal Police Station. There was a dispute regarding a joint property among the relatives of the victim.<br />

On 5 th October 2007 Mojibur Rahaman and his associates attacked the family of the victim early in the<br />

morning. They carried away the ornaments and tried to molest the women. A case had been filed<br />

regarding this at Domkal Police Station dated 5 th October 2007. The FIR was signed by Md. Sallhauddin,<br />

SI. The perpetrators were arrested and soon after released under bail. Again these people attacked the<br />

victims’ house on 23 rd October 2007 during the absence of Khodabox. The next day a diary was lodged<br />

in Domkal Police Station but the police didn’t take any action. On 1 st December 2007 the accused<br />

attacked Nargis Bibi, the daughter of Khodabox with a log, and threatened her to vacate the house<br />

immediately. On 3 rd December 2007 the victim and his wife went to Domkal Police Station, but the IIC<br />

refused to accept their complaint, and threatened to detain them if they disturbed any further. Written<br />

complaints have been send to the SDO, SDPO, SP of Murshidabad regarding this. A petition has also<br />

been filed before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate court apprehending danger.<br />
