Case Details:
Victim Ilias Mondal, aged 55, was a resident of South Budhokhali village. He was married to Hamida
Mondal and both have two children, aged 3 and 5 years respectively. The economic condition of the
family is very poor. On 15 th January 2008 the victim was found dead near a canal. The family of the
deceased didn’t approach the police owing to lack of money and delaying reasons. The body was
buried, but the villagers were discussing that Ilias was murdered under suspicious circumstances.
Chunnat, the cousin brother of the victim took up the matter and came to know that on the day of Ilias’
death he was found with Sanatan Naskar and Madhab Sapui in a wine shop. There was a quarrel
between the three and the latter two struck the victim thereby killing him. Chunnat approached Canning
Police Station on 25 th January 2008 along with the village people; but the police denied taking up the case
stating that the dead cannot be brought back to life. A case was filed in Alipore court and letters were send
to the SP and Human Rights Commission on 28 th January 2008, following which the Court ordered for
post mortem. The body was dug out and post mortem was conducted on 22 nd March 2008, the report
of which was not revealed to the victimized family. Even after these things police didn’t arrest anybody;
and the accused are threatening the wife of the deceased to withdraw the case.

Case Details:
Totan, Mondal, aged 13, S/o Sirajul Mondal, a resident of Malopara village was found missing from 13 th
September 2007. Two days later his body was found 30 kilometers away from his house. Tehatta Police
Station filed a case and arrested Ziaul Haq Mondal under suspicion. On 13 th October 2007 Sirajul
lodged a complaint at Hariharapara Police Station against Esadul Mondal and his brother Sirajul
Mondal under suspicion. On 12 th October 2007 Sirajul conspired against the brothers and took the
above mentioned perpetrators for help. On 14 th October 2007, on the occasion of Id, when Esadul and
