The family resides in Roypara village, falling under the jurisdiction of Jalangi Police Station. Nuresha was a widow and her father handed over his land to her. Imran Mondal, the nephew of Nuresha quarreled over this and demanded a share. On 15 th December 2007 Imran and his wife picked up a quarrel with the family of the victim. Halema received heavy blows during the scuffle that broke out. Imran pulled her hair and struck her with a wooden frame. She fell to the ground and her head began to bleed profusely. Black spots appeared all over her body. After this incident the victims went to Jalangi Police Station, following which Halema was hospitalized. A general diary entry was registered at Jalangi Police Station on the same day. Halema send a written complaint to the SDPO of Domkal on 11 th January 2008. Again on 27 th January 2008 the victim was hospitalized and finally she breathed her last on 2 nd March 2008. On 3 rd March 2008 Bipul went to Jalangi Police Station and lodged a FIR. Despite lodging two complaints, the police neither started investigation nor took any action. The family of the deceased in now under threat from the accused person. When Bipul went to inquire about the case, the SI threatened him not to disturb any further, or he would be implicated in a false case. The victims have completed their term of imprisonment but still they are detained under illegal custody. It was revealed that the victims were not treated well in the jail, and left to starve, without proper clothes to wear. Mr. Balbir Singh, 1 st Secretary to the High Commissioner, Indian High Commission at Dhaka stated that the mistake was on the part of the Bangladesh authorities. Mr. Harun-Ur-Rasid, SP of Rajsahi Jail on the other hand stated that letters were sent to the BSF who failed to respond. He was married to Hamida Mondal and both have two children, aged 3 and 5 years respectively. The economic condition of the family is very poor. On 15 th January 2008 the victim was found dead near a canal. The family of the deceased didn’t approach the police owing to lack of money and delaying reasons. The body was buried, but the villagers were discussing that Ilias was murdered under suspicious circumstances. Chunnat, the cousin brother of the victim took up the matter and came to know that on the day of Ilias’ death he was found with Sanatan Naskar and Madhab Sapui in a wine shop. There was a quarrel between the three and the latter two struck the victim thereby killing him. Chunnat approached Canning Police Station on 25 th January 2008 along with the village people; but the police denied taking up the case stating that the dead cannot be brought back to life. A case was filed in Alipore court and letters were send to the SP and Human Rights Commission on 28 th January 2008, following which the Court ordered for post mortem. The body was dug out and post mortem was conducted on 22 nd March 2008, the report of which was not revealed to the victimized family. Even after these things police didn’t arrest anybody; and the accused are threatening the wife of the deceased to withdraw the case. Two days later his body was found 30 kilometers away from his house. Tehatta Police Station filed a case and arrested Ziaul Haq Mondal under suspicion. On 13 th October 2007 Sirajul lodged a complaint at Hariharapara Police Station against Esadul Mondal and his brother Sirajul Mondal under suspicion. On 12 th October 2007 Sirajul conspired against the brothers and took the above mentioned perpetrators for help.
