Ishad ali Gazi, is a resident of Paschim Dandirhat village, falling under the jurisdiction of Basirhat Police Station. Her husband is a mason. On th 9April 2008 few crucial tools of Ishad were lying in the house of Nargazi, the neighbour of Firdosi, and after inquiry it was known that the children had taken it. Thus a quarrel picked up between both the ladies. When the victim returned home, three women namely Manzura Bibi, Akli Bibi and Rahima Bibi came into her house and beat up Firdosi, her sister-in-law Somara Bibi and her mother-in-law Asura Bibi. They also scattered all the articles in the house under the instruction of a local CPI(M) member. On 9 th April 2008 the victim went to Basirhat Police Station where her complaint was at first rejected but finally booked after Firdosi waited for a long time. When the victim returned home she was threatened to be killed by Nargazi and few other people. After three days Firdozi went to the hospital and received treatment. On 10 th April 2008 a written complaint was sent to the SDPO but no action followed. Now the family is leading a life of fear unable to go out. FF Code : WB/MON (Amrita Rana)/ District – Howrah/APR-30/04/2008/Sl.NO-69 Victim(s) : 1) Ghenna Bala Naskar 2) Shyam Sundar Naskar 3) Shankar Naskar 4) Monlina Naskar 5) Arun Naskar Perpetrator(s) : 1) OIC 2)Majhi, SI 3)Abhijit Chowdhury, Police 4) Gobinda Naskar 5) Pintu Naskar 6) Ajit Bachar 7) Subas Saha Location : Khalia, Liluah Date of incident : 23/04/2006, 26/04/2006 Case Details: Victim Ghenna Bala Naskar, aged 76 is a widow residing in Khalia village, falling under the jurisdiction of Liluah Police Station. She has two sons namely Shyam and Shankar. The victim belongs to the Scheduled Caste Community. Ghenna owns some land which was not partitioned. Hence the victim was often facing disturbances from the above mentioned perpetrators. Ghenna lodged cases against the perpetrators and the Court had also passed an injunction. But on 23 rd April 2006 Gobinda Naskar, a local leader of CPI(M) along with the above mentioned perpetrators attacked the house of the victim. They carried away 1000 bricks that were dumped outside. The same day Ghenna narrated the incident to Abhijit Chowdhury, the duty officer of Liluah Police Station who summoned the perpetrators and asked them not to repeat such offence any longer. After sending them the officer abused the victim with filthy words. On 26 th April 2006 Gobinda once again came to the house of Ghenna and completely destroyed it. Victim Gita Ghosh’s house is situated in the 16 feet wide road, opposite this mill, at Gorapada Sarkar Lane, falling under the jurisdiction of Ultadanga Police Station. The perpetrators used the road in front of the victim’s house as a parking place for the heavy vehicles containing the goods of the mill. The residents of the area couldn’t move about because of this. Gita’s house was also substantially damaged when those vehicles hit the wall of the house. The victim lodged several complaints at Ultadanga Police Station but in vain. The perpetrators were sound people, and the police couldn’t do anything against them. Gita also lodged complaints with the Commissioner of Police, DC- ESD, DC- Traffic, SHRC, CM, Kolkata Municipal Corporation but there was no response. B. Banerjee, SI of Ultadanga Police Station took some photographs of the damaged part of the victim’s house but there wasn’t any positive outcome. On 11 th October 2007, Debasis Ghosh, the son of the victim went on protest, and took away the vehicle key, but he was summoned to the police station and threatened to be filed under a theft case. No 71 Victim(s) : 1) Gopal Das 2) Uma Das Perpetrator(s) : 1) Sudip Banerjee (a) Bhaja 2) Prabir Roy, IIC 3) Joideb, SI Location : Kanaipur, Hooghly Date of incident : 11/03/2008 Case Details: Victim Gopal Das, aged 34, is a resident of Kanaipur, falling under the jurisdiction of Uttarpara Police Station. There were some controversies between the victim and Sudip Banerjee since long. Gopal had lodged several complaints before Chandanagar Police Station, SP of Hooghly, SDPO of Chandanagar, and Uttarpara Police Station from 20 th October 2006 to 5 th January 2007 but to no avail. A case was also proceeding at Calcutta High Court and the Court had ordered the police to render protection for Gopal and his wife Uma Das, but that too yielded no result. On 11 th March 2008 while Gopal was working in his own shop along with his wife and few other employees, two unknown miscreants came to the shop and threatened the victim to be murdered and abduct his wife. Soon the strangers struck Uma on her forehead that it bled severely. She started running and the men followed her, throwing bomb and firing at her. The local people also started chasing these men and got injured due to the bombing. The Uttarpara Police booked a FIR against Sudip but till date nobody has been arrested.
