Case Details:<br />

Victim Awal Hossain, aged 28 is a farmer residing in Natun Bamnabad village, falling under the jurisdiction<br />

of Jalangi Police Station. On 7 th July 2008 the victim took his two buffaloes to wash them near Dhonirampur<br />

Bridge. Rabin Orao, a Head Constable of Khairtola BSF Camp along with Rabindra Dhoni caught hold<br />

of Awal and took away the two buffaloes from his custody. In fear Awal fled from the place. The same day<br />

he approached the Company Commandant of the BSF Camp along with two village heads, requesting<br />

him to return the buffaloes, but they were turned with deaf ears. The officials also stated that the seizure<br />

list was prepared. On 8 th July 2008 Awal went to Jalangi Police Station for lodging a complaint but the first<br />

official denied doing the same. The same day the victim sent a written complaint to the BDO of Murshidabad<br />

and SDPO of Domkal. On 9 th July 2008 the officials of Jalangi Police Station went to Khairtala Police<br />

Station for investigating the matter but till date Awal has not got back his buffaloes.<br />

Case Details:<br />

Victim Bandita (a) Susmita Das, aged 15, hails from a poor family, residing in Brajaballavpur village.<br />

Therefore the victim had to work as a servant maid in her maternal uncle Sakti Dinda’s house, located<br />

at Uttar Chandanpur. Sakti had a nephew named Pachu Gopal Dinda, who raped Bandita, stuffing her<br />

mouth, on 27 th February 2008 and 4 th March 2008, while she was alone at home. Threatening to<br />

murder her if she disclosed the matter to anybody, he also snatched away her gold earring. On 5 th<br />

March 2008, Bandita’s elder sister Shyamali came to see her, and noticed her earring missing. The<br />

victim narrated all the matter to her, and both of them went and informed the incident to Sakti. The victim’s<br />

uncle questioned his brother regarding this, who in turn grew angry over Sakti and Shyamali. He brutally<br />

beat up Sakti. The matter came known to the village, and the family of the perpetrator didn’t turn out for the<br />

village meeting to discuss on the issue. Bandana and her family went to Namkhana Police Station on<br />

16 th March 2008, but the SI denied accepting the complaint. When the victim persisted in filing a<br />
