Case Details:
Victim Arjan Bibi (25), W/o Anowar Hossain, resides in Pawli village, falling under the jurisdiction of
Sagardighi Police Station. Anowar is a mason and often stayed away from the house, owing to his
profession. Arjan took care of her three children in the absence of her husband. Alimul Haque (a) Bulu
of the same village often disturbed the victim to satisfy his sexual urge. She refused his proposal, and
informed the matter to her brother-in-law and few neighbours. They inquired the matter and threatened
Alimul to approach the police. Knowing this, Alimul send his wife and mother-in-law to Arjan assuring to
pay money. On 11 th January 2008 while the victim was in her house, Alimul came and tried to outrage
her modesty. As the victim shouted her son came for help, following which he ran away. Arjan and her
husband went to Sagardighi Police Station for lodging a complaint, but the police didn’t take any action.
The perpetrator has not been arrested yet.

Case Details:
Victim Asema Khatun (15), D/o Jele Rahaman, is a resident of Muraripur village, falling under the
jurisdiction of Domkal Police Station. The victim was kidnapped by Arab, Imran, Ruhul and Hanif of the
same village on 3 rd December 2007. She was taken to Kachia Mora village, where Arab forcibly
married her and sexually abused her several times. On 4 th December 2007 Jele Rahaman came to
know of the matter and went to Domkal Police Station. But the SI refused to receive the complaint, and
after the intervention of the IIC a missing diary was registered on 6 th December 2007. But the police took
no efforts to trace the missing girl. On 1 st January 2008 Domkal Police arrested Asema and Arab with
the help of Ahasan Ali Mondal, and they were produced before the Court of CJM, Berhampore. Asema
was released and Arab also managed to get bail with the help of the police. Jele Rahaman lodged a
complaint with the SP of Murshidabad on 21 st January 2008 against the perpetrators, who managed to
get away from the legal procedures.
