supporter Swapan Maiti was seriously injured on 28 th February 2008. All the victims hid themselves in the paddy field. The members of CPI(M) blocked the way to the Police Station and the Hospital. The police officials arrived at the place during night, within which all the perpetrators fled from the place. Nobody was arrested during all this happening. The same thing happened in a nearby village called Mollapara. Paddy fields were set on fire, shops were destroyed. On 2 nd March 2008, Basanti Police filed FIR against Jafar seikh, Musir Naia, Manirul, Jabdel Molla, Arjul Seikh, Najibar Molla and 60 other persons based on the complaint made by the victims but nobody was arrested. On 24 th February 2008 the mother of the victim was walking beside the field of Anchar Biswas with her goat, over which the latter quarreled. Aklema rushed to the place and argued with him, owing to which he pulled her hair and pushed her down. The victim was carrying at that time, and she was grievously injured. Aklema went to Jalangi Police Station, but the SI refused to receive the complaint. The victim sought the help of her neighbour Hadiul Seikh, who in turn talked with the SDPO to intervene and thereby lodge a general diary entry. Following this Aklema had to walk to the station repeatedly in order to be forwarded to the hospital. After much persuasion the OIC gave her the forwarded letter, and she received treatment at Sadhikhan Dearh Hospital. Mokhtar Ahmed) District –North 24 Parganas / APR-15.04.2008/ SL.NO- 121 Victim(s) : Residents of Angrail Perpetrator(s) : 1) BSF Officials 2) Dulal Sarkar Location : Angrail, North 24 Parganas Case Details: Dulal Sarkar is a resident of Angrail. Earlier he was working in the Railways, but all of a sudden Dulal established Jeevan Deep Nursing Home. The villagers were doubtful of his medical degree, for he had not passed any medical examination. The villagers grew angry after the incident of victim Kali Das Ghosh, another resident of the same village, who suffered harm in the hands of the doctor. The BSF Officials of the region were in protection for the doctor. An auction was conducted by the BSF after which the cattle are handed over to the smugglers. The BSF took signatures of Kali Das’ family on a blank paper, promising to get them money but it never happened. The said doctor came to know that an investigation was going on, and on 26 th March 2008 he went to Kali’s house, and tried convincing them. The mother of the victim left him and his sister Shib Kumari Shaw some property in Kumar Singh Path. After his mother’s death Rajendra resided in a small house constructed in the acquired land. He also possessed the ration card for the address. But Rajendra was regularly harassed by the above mentioned perpetrators trying to evacuate him from the property. The victim lodged a complaint at Khardah Police Station but in vain. Finally he filed a civil suit in the court. On 28 th July 2008 while Rajendra was filling water in the buckets he was abused by the perpetrators and denied permission to fill water. He was also assaulted and Anita, the wife of the victim also received thrashes on her chest, abdomen and nose. Though a general diary entry was filed in the police station, they were turned to deaf ears and the police on the other hand detained them in the station while approaching them for help. The perpetrators were also summoned to the police station but released after they were bribed with Rs.500. Finally Rajendra was forced to pay Rs.100 for his release. All this mal practice took place in the presence of the SI of the station. The victim was suffering from fever and was receiving treatment from Dr. Debasish Mukherjee. She was taken to Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine on 28 th September 2005. The doctors suggested for dengue test, but Dr. D.K. Neogi and Dr. Sukumar Das took no interest. The same day Anushila started vomiting and her urine was stopped.
