Case Details:<br />

Victim Sajida Bibi, aged 45 is a widow, residing in Basanti colony, falling under the jurisdiction of<br />

Ultadanga Police Station. The victim was implicated under Foreigners’ Act in Park Street Police Station.<br />

Sajida was living with her daughters Sabina Khatun and Nasiba Bibi in the above mentioned address for<br />

decades. Sabina was looked after and sheltered by an organization named ‘All <strong>Bengal</strong> Women’s<br />

Union. Sajida was communicated by the organization through another organization named ‘Society for<br />

People’s Awareness’. Thus the victim was send a communication stating to bring clothes for her<br />

daughter Sabina, for she was going to be deported to Bangladesh of late. On 10 th August 2008 when<br />

Sajida went to visit her daughter as usual she was not present in the home, and the authorities refused<br />

to give any explanation. Sabina was pushed back to Bangladesh on 23 rd July 2008. Sajida and her<br />

second daughter Nasiba were forcibly confined in a room. The same day they were arrested by the<br />

police of Park Street Police Station neither issuing any memo of arrest nor showing any reason. It was<br />

revealed that the following organizations were involved in the deportation of the victim: All <strong>Bengal</strong> Women’s<br />

Union, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), BSF at Haridaspur Border, Kolkata Police (Special Branch), Customs<br />

Department, Immigration Department, Assistant Commandant and the representatives of BNWLA from<br />

Bangladesh.<br />
