Case Details:
The victim is a 19 year old girl. On 12 th November 2007 she went to ease herself during night. At that
time, the victim was dragged to a bamboo bush by Indrajit Ghorui. He stuffed her mouth with a cloth and
raped her. The father of the victim came searching for his daughter and caught Indrajit red handed. He
brought him home and went to bring his parents, but Indrajit managed to escape. Following this the family
of the victim approached Uluberia Police Station on 13 th November 2007 but the police refused to
register the complaint. Though they appealed before the SDPO it too yielded no fruit. Even after 13 days
of the incident, a complaint wasn’t registered. The medical department also dragged the victim to the
hospital repeatedly without administering any treatment. The attention of media was drawn into the case,
following which Uluberia Police Station received the complaint on 5 th December 2007. Though the girl’s
family requested Indrajit’s family to arrange for marriage they only received negatives responses.

Case Details:
On 1 st March 2008, 300 supporters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) attacked houses of RSP
(Revolutionary Socialist Party) members in order to establish a reign of terror in Petuakhali region,
which falls under the jurisdiction of Basanti Police Station. Those hooligans set fire on five houses and
ransacked ten other houses. All these incidents took place in the presence of four officials of Amjhara
Police Station. The RSP supporters were injured caused by the firing. Women were molested, gold
ornaments were snatched away. Victim Abul Kasem Molla’s house was set alight, and all the furniture
were broken with an axe. The gold ornaments were carried away. Tanbir Hasan Molla, the son of the
victim was shot in his hand. Three members of the family lost their Admit Card of Secondary Examination
during this attack. Many other victims were also injured, namely Hossain Molla, who too was shot
down. The shop of Ilias Mondal was destroyed. Other sufferers were Sadikul Molla, Neorjan Bibi, Fajal
Molla and Abdul Majid Molla. The perpetrators beat a pregnant daughter-in-law of Alauddin. Another
