JOB DESCRIPTION: This placement provides experience in working with a multi-disciplinary team in a Rural<br />
Locality. The Trainer has a particular interest in service organisation and this post will provide a good<br />
experience in Core General Adult Psychiatry with a Consultant who is a member of the Academic Department<br />
of Mental Health at Exeter University Medical School. Trainees will have an opportunity to develop their<br />
research skills, teach others and acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to work as a General Adult<br />
Psychiatrist in both inpatient and community rural settings. Dr Laugharne has been past Head of School of<br />
Psychiatry and is currently Lead for Research and Innovation for the Trust. His current research interests<br />
include public education through a radio phone in, trust in psychiatrists and mental health teaching in Ghana.<br />
He has published over 30 peer reviewed papers, and co-authored papers with at least six trainees who have<br />
worked with him.<br />
