Chamber Members Helping Chamber Members At the November “Fall Fling” held at the Panama City Beach Senior Center, Sherry Swartout, Operations Director, presented Michael Sullivan with a plaque of appreciation for the repair services delivered by “Lowe’s Heroes.” Michael is the Store Manager for the newly opened Lowes store on the Beach. As an introduction to the community, a group of employees with the title of “Lowe’s Heroes” looks for ways they can be of service to their new neighbors. They contacted the Center and asked for permission to assess current needs. They found that “Cypress House” provided a prime target. Cypress House is the building many locals will remember as the TDC Building that stood on the Gulf from 1981 until it was offered to the seniors in 2001. The seniors were in need of more room to house the increasing space needs as their activities expanded. The TDC Building was the result of a group of locals, led by the Lark family, pulling together with local residents, to construct a Tourist Information Center. It served visitors and the community well until the construction of the current TDC building on Hwy 79. It stood empty and almost forgotten on the Gulf for about a year. Mask Parade Exhibit and Walking Tour See this year’s collection of beautiful masks painted by celebrities and local artists Join Covenant Hospice and WMBB-TV for a guided walking tour and opening reception to view this year’s collection of more than 80 masks, created by local artists and celebrities for Covenant Hospice’s Sixth Annual Mask Parade Gala. The event begins at 3:00 pm, Friday, February 29th at the Visual Arts Center. See beautiful mask artwork created by celebrities like Courtney Cox, and local artists like Paul Brent; enjoy hors d’oeuvres and mingle with the artists. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Masks will be displayed through March 21st at the Visual Arts Center, Robert Dokken, Estate Treasures and Bay Bank & Trust in downtown Panama City. Select your favorite pieces and then bid on them at the Mask Parade Gala benefiting Covenant Hospice, on Saturday, March 22nd at Edgewater Beach Resort.
