erving the community since 1957, Gulf Coast<br />

Community College (GCCC) continues to<br />

provide a first class education to the citizens <strong>of</strong> Bay,<br />

Gulf and Franklin Counties. With its strong emphasis<br />

on success, regardless <strong>of</strong> student’s academic background,<br />

age or educational goals, the college is proud<br />

<strong>of</strong> the success <strong>of</strong> its graduates who transfer to state<br />

universities and <strong>of</strong> its occupational students who have<br />

extremely high placement rates in the careers they<br />

have chosen.<br />

GCCC faculty and staff dedicate themselves to serving<br />

students who plan to transfer to a state university,<br />

want a new career or better job skills, seek basic skills,<br />

or want to enrich their lives. GCCC serves more than<br />

7,000 students each semester and an additional<br />

21,000 in Lifelong Learning continuing education<br />

courses. Students may earn one <strong>of</strong> 75 associate <strong>of</strong> arts<br />

“ACCESS, OPPORTUNITY & HOPE”<br />

or one <strong>of</strong> 9 associate <strong>of</strong> science degrees <strong>of</strong>fered by<br />

GCCC. Twenty associate <strong>of</strong> applied science degrees,<br />

along with six-month and one year technical and<br />

vocational certificate programs are also available.<br />

Because 75 percent <strong>of</strong> GCCC students work, classes are<br />

<strong>of</strong>fered at convenient times and in convenient locations<br />

-- morning, afternoon, evening and weekend<br />

courses, in addition to courses on-line and on video<br />

tape/DVDs that students can view at their own pace<br />

in their own homes. In addition to the main campus<br />

in <strong>Panama</strong> <strong>City</strong>, the college holds classes at Tyndall Air<br />

Force Base, the North Bay Center in Southport and the<br />

Gulf/Franklin Center in Port St. Joe. For more information<br />

Florida State University - <strong>Panama</strong><br />

<strong>City</strong> provides students with the advantages <strong>of</strong> both<br />

a small college atmosphere and a major Research I<br />

university. In cooperation with community and<br />

junior colleges, students can achieve their higher<br />

education goals while working and living in Bay and<br />

surrounding counties.<br />

FSU <strong>Panama</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers upper division courses and<br />

programs (junior/senior and graduate level), while<br />

community colleges provide the first two years <strong>of</strong><br />

Nearly 1,000 students are enrolled in more than 30<br />

undergraduate and graduate degree programs.<br />

Classes at FSU PC are small with many opportunities<br />

for personalized instruction and student interaction.<br />

Both part-time, evening and full-time, daytime<br />

programs are available. Courses are taught by one<br />

<strong>of</strong> 33 resident faculty members or Tallahassee faculty<br />

members. Located 100 miles from the main campus<br />

in Tallahassee, the waterfront setting is one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

campus’ most striking attributes.<br />
