Renourishment<br />

Ever wonder how The World’s Most Beautiful <strong>Beach</strong>es<br />

stay so clean and powdery white? The <strong>Panama</strong> <strong>City</strong><br />

<strong>Beach</strong> Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and the Bay<br />

County Tourist Development Council completed<br />

the destination’s first beach renourishment project<br />

in April 2005 to refurbish the beach and rebuild the<br />

dunes. The U.S. Army Corps <strong>of</strong> Engineers dredged<br />

over three million cubic yards <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fshore sand.<br />

Costing between $20 and $30 million, the project<br />

extended the 16-mile <strong>Panama</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> federal<br />

project area by a depth <strong>of</strong> 30 feet on average.<br />
