BearTrax Group Orientation<br />
Session is designed to welcome you to Phoenix College and help you<br />
become familiar with My.maricopa.edu, the online student system.<br />
You will also be registering for your core classes.<br />
Steps to Register for BearTrax<br />

1) Reserve a seat at a BearTrax session. Register online at<br />
My.maricopa.edu. Click on <strong>Find</strong> a Class. Enter NSO (New Student<br />
Orientation) in the Search Box.<br />
• Write down the class # that best suits your availability and click on<br />
My.maricopa.edu located on the top navigation bar of the screen.<br />
• Use your MEID to log into your student center.<br />
• Click on ADD a Class and enter the Class #.<br />
• Complete the registration process.<br />
You can also register in person by visiting the Welcome Center in the<br />
AR building, or by calling the Contact Center at 602.285.7777.<br />
2) Attend your BearTrax session. Bring your test scores, MEID, and<br />
your 8 digit student ID number.<br />
In this session you will:<br />
• Register for your core classes and a Student Success Class<br />
• Become familiar with PC's online student system<br />
• Learn about PC's great services and student life<br />
College Success Courses<br />
During the BearTrax session, assistance will be provided to help you<br />
select the student success course that best meets your needs and<br />
schedule. In the course, you’ll learn strategies for achieving your goals<br />
in college and in life. A College success course is strongly recommended<br />
for every PC student, and is part of your program if the following<br />
criteria apply to you:<br />
1. You are new to college, and<br />
• Plan to earn a degree, or<br />
• Plan to transfer to a university, or<br />
• Enroll in 7 or more credits, or<br />
• You have tested into at least one of the following courses:<br />
ENG 071-091, RDG 071-091, MAT 081-083 or MAT 090-092<br />
Strategies for College Success (AAA/CPD150) is an in-depth<br />
college orientation course focused on student success through<br />
personal awareness, study skills development, and educational and<br />
career planning. This (3) credit (transferable) sixteen (16) week<br />
course introduces study skills in time management, test taking,<br />
note taking, test anxiety, organization, memory techniques and<br />
more.<br />
Creating College Success (AAA/CPD115) helps students develop<br />
effective academic self-awareness, and self-management strategies.<br />
This one (1) credit (transferable) eight (8) week course covers<br />
college transition issues, time management, interpersonal/multicultural<br />
communication, and college resources and terminology.<br />
Students will clarify goals and create an educational action plan.<br />
