AGEC The Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) is a 35-38 credit “block” that you can complete at any arizona community college. Because there are some differences in the mathematics and science requirements for different degrees, there are three AGEC. • AGEC-A: This is part of the Associate in Arts Degree. • AGEC-B This is part of the Associate in Business degree. • AGEC-S This is part of the Associate in Science degree. Completion of the AGEC and an associate’s degree with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale guarantees your admission to any of the Arizona public universities for resident students. Nonresidents must have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. DEGREE PATHWAYS FOR TRANSFER In the Arizona higher education system, there are different degree pathways you may follow, depending upon the major you choose to pursue. • AA (Associate in Arts) • AS (Associate in Science) • ABus (Associate in Business)/ General Requirements ABus/GR • ABus (Associate in Business)/ Special Requirements ABus/SR • AAEE (Associate of Arts- Elementary Education) • AAFA (Associate of Arts-Fine Arts)/ Art/Dance/Theatre Each of these pathways require 60-64 credits in courses numbered 100 or above to be completed with a grade “C” or better. MARICOPA-ASU PATHWAYS PROGRAM (MAPP) The Maricopa Community Colleges and Arizona State University Alliance partnership is designed to promote positive and seamless experiences for Maricopa students who transfer to ASU. MAPPS offers meaningful incentives for students who complete a transfer certificate and associate’s degree through an articulated degreeto-degree transfer program called a MAPP (Maricopa-ASU Pathways Program). Students follow a prescribed sequence of course work at a Maricopa Community College called a MAPP. The MAPP meets all of the requirements for a specified major at ASU and includes the appropriate associate degree at the community college. Benefits include: • Guaranteed admission to ASU degree programs when all MAPP requirements are met. • Tuition incentives • Specific scholarships available for meritorious students who complete the appropriate transfer degree. • Dedicated advisement by ASU Transfer Advisors who hold office hours at Maricopa Community Colleges.
