However, placement tests in English, mathematics, and reading are required for students who are new to college and: • are enrolling in an English, mathematics, or • reading course for the first time OR • are enrolling as a full-time student (12 or more unit/credit hours) AND • intend to earn an associates degree OR • intend to transfer to a four-year institution. Your completion of the placement tests will help determine your next step. If you test into an ENG, MAT, or RDG class under 100 level you will be enrolled in New Student System (NSS). If you do not test into any of the above courses you should meet with an academic advisor who will help you enroll in courses that fit your educational and career goals. Remember: Placement test scores provide valuable information to help you and your academic advisor select your courses!
