With its abundance swaying palm trees and
shimmering swimming pools, Palm Springs already
embodies a strong element of tropical glamour.
However, for six years, it has been Rory “Wildsville
Man” Snyder’s mission to bring Tiki style and aloha
back to Palm Springs, and he has done that successfully
with his annual “Tiki Caliente” event.
Snyder first came to Palm Springs on vacation in 1995
and moved here a few years after that. “I started to
see the change here, with people focusing on the
preservation and rich mid-century history that this
city has to offer”, says Snyder, “but I noticed that one
of the most vibrant and entertaining aspects of that
movement was being overlooked, which was Tiki. The
Polynesian-Pop style and influence in mid-century
history is loved by many, and too much fun to ignore.”

With Tiki Caliente now in its sixth successful year,
Snyder is not only responsible for bringing Tiki back
to Palm Springs, he has reinvented it for this city, and
enjoys making others aware of how great it is.

From May 15th-18th, Tiki Caliente-goers will enjoy
