Hello all you FABULOUS people out there. Can<br />
you believe it is <strong>May</strong> already? Well as you<br />
are reading this, since this issue comes out on<br />
Friday <strong>May</strong> <strong>16</strong>th, Kevin and I will be returning<br />
from Dallas, TX. I went to Dallas to have<br />
laser spine surgery. I had four disc bulges, a<br />
herniated disc and disc degeneration. I chose<br />
to do laser surgery since it is less invasive<br />
and the recovery time is so much less. In fact<br />
we are flying back to Palm Springs on the <strong>16</strong>th<br />
which is the day after my surgery. Of course<br />
I’ll be sent home wearing a cervical collar,<br />
but at least finally I’ll be out of pain and no more<br />
numbness!<br />
Speaking of the <strong>16</strong>th….I am now in my <strong>16</strong>th year<br />
of living with HIV/AIDS. I remain healthy only<br />
because I listen to my doctors, do my research<br />
and take my meds. I am lucky that I have<br />
good health insurance through my husbands<br />
employer. It is SO important that you go and<br />
get tested on a regular basis if you are sexually<br />
active. The sooner you know you have HIV the<br />
better your chances are of living a long life. Hell<br />
when I was first diagnosed they told me I had 5<br />
years to live, well I showed them, didn’t I? Just<br />
remember, the Desert AIDS Project offers free<br />
and confidential testing. Just give them a call<br />
for more information at 760-992-0440.<br />
And speaking of the Desert AIDS Project, the<br />
Queen of the Desert competition is coming up<br />
benefiting Desert AIDS Project. My good and<br />
dear friend Marina Mac is one of the contestants!<br />
I am throwing all my support behind her and so<br />
much appreciate her doing this to help in the<br />
fight against this awful disease. Please help<br />
the cause as she has a goal of raising $1,000.<br />
Let’s all pitch in and get her over the top on this<br />

On another note, as many of you know, one of<br />
my hobbies is quilting . I spend countless hours<br />
at my sewing machine and I lead a group at the<br />
Desert AIDS Project on Mondays. It is as much<br />
a support group as it is a quilting group. In fact,<br />
at the moment I am working on a masterpiece for<br />
Juli, of <strong>LIVE</strong> <strong>Magazine</strong>. I can’t wait for her to see<br />
it, of course I have to finish it first. If anyone is<br />
