Love Carnival
Masquerade
Love comes in many flavors and Philly’s South Street
neighborhood is famous for Tutti Fruity! The flavors will be more
fruity than ever on Sunday, February 22 when the entire street gets
a queer make-over for an unforgettable evening of shopping,
dancing, performances and pride.
LOVE.
Pride.
Feather Masks!
The masquerade is an informal stroll of colorful people wearing either
feather masks or LGBT pride pins & T-shirts for discounts and special
offers at participating local businesses.
Many famous business are rolling out the royal rainbow colored carpet
to raise funds and awareness for Philly Pride. Partipating businesses will offer
gifts or discounts to proud masqueraders on the street that night. The more you indulge
the more money gets raised for Philly Pride Presents (producers of the June’s Philly Pride Parade, and October’s
OUTfest), who will receive a portion of the day’s sales from all participating businesses.
What to expect?. Producers of some of Philly’s most flamboyant parties are moving into restaurants and
clubs on the street to create an absolutely fabulous night of entertainment and activities for the enjoyment of
all. Sideshows and Skin (produced by the creators of Gay Adventure at Jackson’s Six Flags) will be redecorating Fat
Tuesdays with plump divas, buff men and other campy treats to the tune of massive house beats. Peekaboo Revue
(now directed by Greg Giovanni of Big Mess Theater fame) will perform two special burlesque shows in (and
out) of various drags. Passional will host a “no-cover party” at Copa. Psydde Delicious will continue his bisexual
go-go mayhem at Fluid’s Fast Cheap and Outta Control. Each party
will assign a portion of cover charges to a specific Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgendered charity.
And by the way, you don’t have to actually be a card-carrying
queer to be proud! Even the Grinch will be raiding his loot-filled
closet to find some gay apparel-- whether it be a pin that proclaims
“straight but not narrow” or a full-on sequined frock! Parading
around in feather masks and rainbow drags may not be your life’s
calling, but you can be as gay as you want to be on February 22.

information, but some websites are much better than others. In my opinion, the ultimate, most respectable
and accurate, informational website for national leather news and information has to be
www.leatherpage.com. Leatherpage is a super website, run by former International Mr. Leather Joe Gallagher.
Joe’s page lists leather columnists from across the country and beyond who write regular columns on events,
activities, fundraisers, and more from their part of the country. This is a great way to learn what’s going on in
the leather fetish communities of California, Chicago, NYC, and numerous other areas, as well as Philly and
NJ. So if you always wondered what the gay and lesbian leather and fetish communities were up to, or simply

photo-realist drawings by Philadelphia artist and Gay activist Albo Jeavons
“My work is usually explicitly political in its subject matter”
says Jeavons, “but most of the erotic work is more subtextual
political in it’s open and explicitly homoerotic celebration of the
pleasures of the human body. I want to reclaim the penis from
the patriarchy, and the naked male body from Calvin Klein and
Abercrombie And Fitch.” The “What do neckties really mean?”
series; a humorous investigation of the necktie as phallic
symbol, will be included in the exhibition.
Jeavons has worked as an illustrator for gay sex magazines, and
as the producer of safe-sex and auto-fellatio videos for 15 years.
His recent Illegal Art Exhibition installations have garnered
international press attention. He was recently profiled in a
Philadelphia City Paper article, and he is scheduled to discuss his
work on “48 Update” on television Channel 48 in February.

Grant Antrews is a pseudonym used by an area
writer for his erotic work, and it has become a recognized
name in the arena of S & M oriented literature.
Mr. Antrews is a successful professional and family
man, but he is also a sensitive and sensual person who
subtly intersperses challenging social issues into his
steamy stories. Grant’s books include the novels My
Darling Dominatrix (an international erotic best-seller!),
Submissions, Rogues Gallery, and Legacies all by the nowdefunct

Getting Belted by Kelly Dunham
As a butch dyke, I don’t qualify for metrosexual status,
but I’ve been noticing dudes wearing moisturizer are getting all the chicks.
Wanting some of the action but not willing to submit to a seaweed facial or a
hotrock body wrap, I followed the advice in the Metrosexual Guide and started
shopping for “vital accessories.” I went to PASSIONAL (then Fetishes Boutique)

Vital, yes, and also attractive and discreet enough to wear every day. If you’re
