TENSION/gauge
17 sts and 24 rows to 10 cm/4 ins over
stocking st, using 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6)
Knitting Needles.
Note - Correct tension/gauge is essential
for a successful handknit.

CREATE
Back and Sleeves (beg at lower edge of
Back)
Using 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6) Needles, cast
on 46 (48-52-54) sts.
Foundation row (WS) - Knit.
Work in stocking st (beg with a knit row) until
work measures 17 (18-20-21) cms/6½ (7-8-
8½) ins from beg, ending with a purl row.
Shape for sleeves - Cast on 5 (4-4-5) sts at
beg of next 8 (12-16-8) rows = 86 (96-116-
94) sts.
Sizes 6, 9 and 18 months only - Cast on 4
(3-4) sts at beg of next 4 (4-8) rows.
All sizes = 102 (108-116-126) sts.
Next row - Sl 1, knit to end.
Next row - Sl 1, purl to end.
Rep last 2 rows until work measures 29
(31-33-35) cms/11½ (12-13-14) ins
from beg, ending with a purl row.
Shape shoulders and top of sleeves -
Cast/bind off 41 (44-46-51) sts at beg of
next 2 rows.
Cast/bind off rem 20 (20-24-24) sts
loosely for back neck.
Left Front and Sleeve (beg at lower
edge of Left Front)
Using 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6) Needles,
cast on 13 (14-14-15) sts.
Foundation row (WS) - Knit.
Work in stocking st (beg with a knit row)
until work measures same as Back to beg
of shape for sleeves, ending with a purl
row. **
Shape for sleeve - Cast on 5 (4-4-5) sts
at beg of next row and foll alt rows until
there are 33 (38-46-35) sts.
Sizes 6, 9 and 18 months only - Cast
on 4 (3-4) sts at beg of foll alt rows until
there are 41 (44-51) sts.
All sizes = 41 (44-46-51) sts.
Next row - Purl.
Next row - Sl 1, knit to end.

Right Front and Sleeve (beg at lower

Work as for Left Front Sleeve to **.
Work 1 row.

Sizes 6, 9 and 18 months only - Cast

Rep last 2 rows until work measures same
as Back to beg of shape shoulders and top of
sleeves, ending with a purl row.
Work 1 row.
Cast/bind off rem sts loosely.
Right Front Rib Trim
Using yarn needle and mattress st seam,
join shoulder and top of sleeve seams. With
RS facing and using 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6)
Needles, knit up 56 (58-62-66) sts evenly
along right front edge to shoulder, then 10
(12-12-12) sts evenly across half of back neck
to centre = 66 (70-74-78) sts.
1st row (WS) - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to
end.
2nd row - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows until trim measures 9
(9-10-10) cms/3½ (3½-4-4) ins, ending with
a 1st row.
Cast/bind off loosely in rib.
Left Front Rib Trim
Work to correspond with Right Front Rib Trim,
beg at centre back neck.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in
ends. Using yarn needle and mattress st seam,
join side and sleeve seams. Join side edges of
rib trims together at centre back neck. Fold
collar over on RS. Place right front over left
front and fasten with purchased pin (if desired).
