8.2 Health Facilities: Ward 9 <strong>has</strong> got 1 health facility called Senkwasi. The facility<br />

is owned by council and is served by 1 nurse. There are 8 general beds at the clinic. The<br />

clinic is critical in the health delivery machinery of the ward as it is a central point for<br />

both treatment and awareness campaigns.<br />

9.0 Ward 10<br />

9.1 Education: There are 3 primary schools in the ward namely Donjane, Donjuan<br />

St George and Gwesela St Andrew. The schools were established in 1965, 1962 and<br />

1963 respectively and are all owned by council. Gwesela St Andrew <strong>has</strong> the highest total<br />

enrolment consisting of 858 pupils. There are also 3 secondary schools in the ward<br />

namely Donjane, <strong>Zhombe</strong> Rio Tinto and Somalala. The schools were established in 1984,<br />

1977 and 1984 respectively. Ward 10 <strong>has</strong> one of the highest numbers of secondary<br />

schools in the constituency and is strategic in the delivery of secondary education in the<br />

constituency.<br />

9.2 Health Facilities: There are 2 health facilities in the ward. These are <strong>Zhombe</strong><br />

Mission Hospital and Donjuan clinic. <strong>Zhombe</strong> Mission Hospital is characterised by 18<br />

maternity beds and 54 general beds. The mission owned facility is manned by 14 nurses.<br />

However there are no resident doctors at this institution. Donjuan, on the other hand <strong>has</strong><br />

got 8 general beds and is manned by 2 nurses. The two health facilities are indisputably<br />

important in the treatment of diseases and in the campaigns for good health standards.<br />

1<strong>1.0</strong> Ward 11<br />

11.1 Education: This ward <strong>has</strong> 4 primary schools known as De Poress St Martins,<br />

Gomola, Gwenzimukulu and Somalala. The four schools were established in 1964,<br />

1966, 1963 and 1930 respectively. The greater number of teachers at the schools is<br />

trained. There is 1 secondary school in the ward called Gwenzimukulu built in 1993.
