Perth Zoo’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/PerthZoo) continued to grow and now includes<br />
37 films. Films uploaded in 2011-12 included:<br />
• vaccination and health check <strong>of</strong> African Painted Dog pups<br />
• medical treatment for a wild echidna at Perth Zoo’s veterinary hospital<br />
• preparations for an orangutan’s move from Perth Zoo to Sumatra<br />
• new arrivals (Ring-tailed Lemur, Bilby, echidna, giraffe, Nepalese Red Pandas and orangutans)<br />
• reopening <strong>of</strong> the refurbished baboon exhibit<br />
• bathing Emus<br />
• Dibblers feeding on mealworms<br />
• release <strong>of</strong> Bush Stone Curlews into the wild<br />
• 55th birthday celebrations for Asian Elephant Tricia<br />
<strong>The</strong> number <strong>of</strong> subscribers grew from 54 in 2010-11 to 117 in 2011-12 with a total <strong>of</strong> 175,040 views<br />
for the channel since it began in October 2009.<br />
Ring-tailed Lemurs<br />
New on-site interpretive facilities developed in<br />
2011-12 included:<br />
• updated walking tours led by Docents<br />
through the African Savannah, Asian<br />
Rainforest, <strong>Australia</strong>n Bushwalk and<br />
<strong>Australia</strong>n Wetlands – part <strong>of</strong> ongoing work<br />
to integrate a new presentation style across<br />
the Zoo.<br />
• new signage for the Birds <strong>of</strong> the South-west<br />
Aviary<br />
• new signage on frog conservation<br />
• new entry signs for the Cassowary and<br />
Tree Kangaroo exhibits<br />
• interpretation for the new savannah<br />
outlook tower.<br />
