7108 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS MONDAY 12 OCTOBER 2009 *7553 POWER INTERRUPTIONS—NORTHERN SYDNEY REGION—Mr Rob Stokes asked the Minister for Education and Training, and Minister for Women representing the Minister for Primary Industries, Minister for Energy, Minister for Mineral Resources, and Minister for State Development— (1) How many power interruptions occurred in the Northern Sydney region during: (a) 2006; (b) 2007; (c) 2008; (d) 2009 year to date? (2) What was the cause of those power interruptions? (3) What was the average number of power interruptions across the entire Sydney metropolitan area during: (a) 2006; (b) 2007; (c) 2008; (d) 2009 year to date? (4) What measures is the Government taking to reduce the number of power outages in the Northern Sydney Region? Answer— I am advised EnergyAustralia's northern Sydney region includes parts of the Hills and northern districts, the northern beaches and north shore areas. (1) (a) 1,057 (b) 1,339 (c) 1,071 (d) 804 year to date (2) The major causes of these power interruptions are as follows: • Third party impact. • Wildlife and vegetation. • Adverse weather. • Customer's installation. • Equipment faults. (3) Average power interruptions are reported as the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), which is a standard reliability measurement used for the electricity industry. SAIFI measures the average number of interruptions experienced per connected customer. Across EnergyAustralia's network in the Sydney metropolitan area, the SAIFI figures for the requested periods are: SAIFI 2006 1.44 2007 1.44 2008 1.54 2009 YTD 1.26 (4) Over the next five years EnergyAustralia will invest about $8 billion in its electricity network - including more than $1.2 billion in renewing, boosting and upgrading the electricity network in the northern Sydney region. Some of the outcomes through this significant investment program include: • improved reliability and greater security of supply by meeting the mandatory design criteria; and • meeting reliability targets in the licence conditions through secure redundancy and asset condition. 7554 CEILING INSULATION REBATE SCHEME—Mr Rob Stokes to ask the Deputy Premier, Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce— *7555 WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK—Mr Rob Stokes asked the Minister for Juvenile Justice, Minister for Volunteering, Minister for Youth, and Minister Assisting the Premier on Veterans' Affairs— (1) Does the Commission for Children and Young People ever disallow an employee from taking a "Working with Children Check", even when requested by the employer and employee? (2) The Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998 allows the Commission to undertake "Working With Children Checks" in specified circumstances. The Commission cannot complete a Check that does not meet these statutory provisions. 7556 BUDGET PAPER NO. 4—Mr Andrew Stoner to ask the Minister for Education and Training, and Minister for Women— 7557 RTA EMPLOYEE DEREK WAINOHU—Mr Andrew Stoner to ask the Minister for Roads— *7558 PORTS AND WATERWAYS COMMITTEES AND BOARDS—Mr Andrew Stoner asked the Minister for Finance, Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Regulatory Reform, and Minister for Ports and Waterways— In relation to Ports and Waterways committees and boards: (1) Of the 369 NSW Government committees and boards (as noted in the Sydney Morning Herald on 20 July 2009), how many are administered⁄managed from NSW Maritime? (2) What are the names of each of these committees and boards that satisfy (1)? Answer— (1) and (2) I am advised NSW Maritime's committees are listed in the NSW Maritime Annual Report. *7559 BUILDING REFURBISHMENT PROGRAM - NEW WORKS—Mr John Turner asked the Minister for Finance, Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Regulatory Reform, and Minister for Ports and Waterways— Given your advice that under the Building Refurbishment Program - New Works, $34,000 has been allocated to the Myall Lakes Electorate (Question 7075), what project will the funds be allocated to? Answer— I'm advised: State Property Authority has allocated $34,000 in 2009⁄10 under the Building Refurbishment Program New Works for maintenance⁄repairs of the government building at 16 Arkwright Crescent, Taree. 7560 FRIDGE BUYBACK SCHEME—Mr John Turner to ask the Deputy Premier, Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce— *7561 CARS BOOKED IN BUS ONLY T-WAYS—Mr Ray Williams asked the Minister for Roads— How many car drivers have been booked for driving in the bus only T-way on the following roads: (a) Windsor Road, Rouse Hill; (b) Sunnyholt Road, Blacktown; (c) Mons Road, Westmead? Answer— I am advised: The RTA does not collect this information.
