7106 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS MONDAY 12 OCTOBER 2009 me that it will continue to monitor user demand on the eastern suburbs network and will make adjustments to bus routes in the region where the need exists. *7532 SYDNEY METRO PYRMONT STATION—Ms Clover Moore asked the Minister for Transport, and Minister for the Illawarra— Given strong community opposition to the demolition of heritage terraces on Union Street for the proposed Sydney Metro Station in Pyrmont: (1) What alternative sites for a station in Pyrmont is Sydney Metro looking at? (2) For each of these alternative sites, has Sydney Metro contacted owners of properties that will need to be demolished or acquired if the Pyrmont station is located there? (3) For each of these alternative sites, what are the benefits compared to the current "preferred" site? (4) What community consultation will Sydney Metro undertake in determining which site will be planned for the Pyrmont station? Answer— I am advised: Information on station alternatives is available in the Environmental Assessment documents which are available from the Sydney Metro website at www.sydneymetro.nsw.gov.au and from the Department of Planning website at www.planning.nsw.gov.au. While every effort has been made to minimise property requirements, it is inevitable that some existing property will be required to build the metro, for station entrances and to provide public access ways. Representatives of Sydney Metro have met with property owners of the preferred and alternative option outlined in the Environmental Assessment. Sydney Metro has run nine community information sessions in the CBD, Rozelle and Pyrmont areas - sessions have been held at Pyrmont and Balmain, with two sessions held in the CBD. This is part of a structured community consultation process that has been underway since the Preliminary Environmental Assessment was released in February. As well as face-to-face visits, phone calls and the community information sessions, Sydney Metro has also sent out information to residents and hosted an innovative web forum on its website. Comments from the community are welcome at any time up to and including the exhibition of the environmental assessment. *7533 NSW MARITIME WHISTLEBLOWER—Mr Jonathan O'Dea asked the Minister for Finance, Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Regulatory Reform, and Minister for Ports and Waterways— (1) Was a whistleblower, Paul Bertram, from NSW Maritime recently temporarily stood down from his role?
