many public hospitals raise funds to provide such 'extras' from the community via appeals, fetes or<br />

volunteer activities.<br />

Each year at Royal <strong>No</strong>rth Shore Hospital there are three or four fundraising appeals organised by the<br />

Fundraising Department. Each is for a specific purpose, usually a piece <strong>of</strong> equipment, as nominated<br />

by the General Manager after consultation with clinicians.<br />

This year's Tax Appeal (end <strong>of</strong> financial year) began in April⁄May 2009 and was for a light weight<br />

portable ultrasound machine to be used in the Intensive Care Unit. It is called the Sono-Site M Turbo<br />

and compliments other equipment already in use.<br />

(2) The tax appeal raised $84,000 and has now closed.<br />

*7480 PUPIL TO TEACHER RATIO—Mr Rob Stokes asked the Minister for Education and Training, and<br />

Minister for Women—<br />

(1) What was average pupil to teacher ratio in government schools in the Pittwater electorate for<br />

enrolments in:<br />

(f) 2009 year to date?<br />

(2) What was the average pupil to teacher ratio for the Sydney metropolitan area in:<br />

(e) 2008 - 16.6<br />

(f) 2009 - Statistics are not available until December.<br />

(2) The average student to teacher ratio in government schools in the Sydney metropolitan area for<br />

enrolments in:<br />

(a) 2004 - 15.4<br />

(b) 2005 - 14.9<br />

(c) 2006 - 14.7<br />

(d) 2007 - 14.8<br />

(e) 2008 - 14.6<br />

(f) 2009 - Statistics are not available until December.<br />

*7481 FUNDING OF UNAPPROVED PROJECTS—Mr Rob Stokes asked the Minister for Roads—<br />

(1) How many "unapproved projects" in the NSW government's State Infrastructure Strategy received<br />

funding in the 2009⁄2010 NSW Budget?<br />

(2) Upon what criteria does the government assess the "priority" <strong>of</strong> road projects to be given funding<br />

under the State Infrastructure Strategy?<br />
