Answer— The global economic recession is impacting the viability of some regional coal mines. The $20 million assistance package will protect more than 2,000 direct jobs in the Western and Gunnedah Coalfields from the global recession. The package will help the industry take advantage of export opportunities when coal prices improve and demand increases. *7471 MANDATORY AIR QUALITY STANDARD—Mr Greg Piper asked the Deputy Premier, Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce— What steps are being taken to implement a mandatory air quality standard for PM2.5? Answer— The National Environment Protection Measure for Ambient Air Quality (Air NEPM) was amended in 2003 to include two advisory reporting standards for particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in diameter (PM2.5). The National Environment Protection Council is currently reviewing the Air NEPM, including the PM2.5 standards. 7091 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS MONDAY 12 OCTOBER 2009 *7472 LICENSED PREMISES INFRINGEMENT NOTICES—Mr Geoff Provest asked the Minister for Gaming and Racing, and Minister for Sport and Recreation— In relation to infringement notices for licensed premises in the Tweed: (1) How many infringement notices have been issued to licensed clubs in the Tweed electorate in the following years: (a) 2007; (b) 2008; (c) Year to date? (2) How many infringement notices have been issued to licensed hotels in the Tweed electorate in the following years: (a) 2007; (b) 2008; (c) Year to date? (3) How many infringement notices have been issued to licensed bottle shops in the Tweed electorate in the following years: (a) 2007; (b) 2008; (c) Year to date? (4) How many infringement notices have been issued to licensed restaurants in the Tweed electorate in the following years: (a) 2007; (b) 2008; (c) Year to date? Answer— Infringement notices under the Liquor Act 2007 are issued by both officers employed by the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR), a division of Communities NSW, and members of the NSW Police Force. All such infringement notices are referred to the Office of State Revenue, NSW Treasury for appropriate processing and recovery. As the OLGR only maintains information on its enforcement activities and can only provide an incomplete response, this question would be better directed to the Treasurer. *7473 PRE-PREPARED FOOD—TWEED HOSPITAL—Mr Geoff Provest asked the Deputy Premier, Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce representing the Attorney General, Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for Health, Minister for the Central Coast, Vice President of the Executive Council— In relation to pre-prepared food and laundry services at the Tweed Hospital: (1) What is the total budget for pre-prepared food at the Tweed Hospital? (2) Who is current contractor for food and laundry services? (3) When was this contractor awarded and when will the contract expire? (4) Where are the contractors operations based? Answer— I am advised: (1) The budget for food at Tweed Heads Hospital is not identified by whether the food purchased is fresh, canned, chilled or frozen. The budget for food expenditure at Tweed Heads Hospital for 2009⁄10 is $940,858. (2) to (4) Food and laundry services to Tweed Heads Hospital are provided by Health Support Services, an entity of NSW Health. These services are not contracted out. The NSW Health laundry facility at Lismore, which has been managed by Health Support Services since January 2007, provides laundry and linen services to Tweed Heads Hospital.
