Answer—<br />

(1) (a) There are 1,202.7 Support Teachers Learning Assistance.<br />

(b) There are 40 Assistant Principals Learning Assistance.<br />

(c) There are 71 Support Teachers Learning Assistance Intensive Reading and Intensive Language.<br />

(d) There are 64.3 Early School Support Teachers.<br />

(e) There are 70 IM Integrated Support Teachers.<br />

(f) There are 51.7 Itinerant Support Teachers Integration.<br />

(g) There are 215 Itinerant Support Teachers Behaviour.<br />

(h) There are 56 Itinerant Support Teachers Behaviour Assistant Principals.<br />

(i) There are 30 Outreach Teachers (Autism).<br />

(j) There are 7 Outreach Teachers (Emotional Disturbance).<br />

(k) There are 23 Outreach Teachers (Special Education).<br />

(2) <strong>No</strong> teachers will be replaced by Coordinators.<br />

(3) The Department <strong>of</strong> Education and Training is not abolishing these positions.<br />

(4) There is no new job description for Coordinators.<br />

<strong>New</strong> positions, known as School Learning Support Teachers, are currently the subject <strong>of</strong> consultation<br />

as part <strong>of</strong> a proposed new program to be known as the School Learning Support Program.<br />

Further details about the proposed role <strong>of</strong> these teachers is included in the presentation being used as<br />

part <strong>of</strong> the Department's extensive consultation process on the proposed School Learning Support<br />

Program and is freely available on the Department's website.<br />

In the proposed role statement for School Learning Support Teachers there is a focus on these<br />

teachers working in classrooms to support students and their teachers.<br />

These proposals are currently the subject <strong>of</strong> consultation with key groups including principals,<br />

parents, advocacy groups and unions which will continue until the middle <strong>of</strong> 2010, while the<br />

proposal is trialed. An evaluation <strong>of</strong> the existing School Learning Support Coordinator initiative is<br />

also currently underway.<br />

<strong>No</strong> decision about the future <strong>of</strong> this proposal will be made until the consultations, trials and<br />

evaluation are finalised.<br />

*7468 VISITS TO JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTRES—Mr Adrian Piccoli asked the Minister for Juvenile<br />

Justice, Minister for Volunteering, Minister for Youth, and Minister Assisting the Premier on Veterans'<br />

Affairs—<br />

With reference to the Juvenile Justice Correctional Centres that have been visited by the Minister since 8<br />

October 2008, would the Minister please provide the following information:<br />

(a) Name <strong>of</strong> Juvenile Justice Centre;<br />

(b) Date <strong>of</strong> visit;<br />

(c) Reason for visit?<br />
