Vehicle Construction and Modification. In addition to those groups represented in the working group,<br />
the RTA also has or will soon consult with the Australian Street Rod Federation and the NRMA. VSI<br />
50 formalised the currently accepted practices for raising or lowering suspension heights that are<br />
being used in NSW. The major change imposed by VSI 50 is to require owners to advise the RTA <strong>of</strong><br />
modifications made to suspensions that are less than 50 millimetres up or down.<br />
*7433 FINGAL BAY TO NEWCASTLE—ADDITIONAL BUS SERVICE—Mr Craig Baumann asked the<br />
Minister for Transport, and Minister for the Illawarra—<br />
(1) Following the Minister's announcement on 10 August 2009 regarding an extra return bus trip from<br />
Fingal Bay to <strong>New</strong>castle, via <strong>New</strong>castle airport, what will the provision <strong>of</strong> this additional service<br />
cost the NSW Government in 2009-10?<br />
(2) How many jobs will this additional service create?<br />
Answer—<br />
I am advised:<br />
(1) Information <strong>of</strong> this nature is subject to Commercial-In-Confidence provisions within existing bus<br />
contracts.<br />
(2) The service has commenced operation as a result <strong>of</strong> the NSW Government's investment in 300<br />
growth buses for Sydney, <strong>New</strong>castle, the Central Coast and the Illawarra. The 300 new growth buses<br />
will mean 400 new jobs for bus drivers and 150 new jobs in the bus building industry, as well as<br />
sustaining 700 existing bus building jobs. These are in addition to the jobs created to maintain the<br />
buses, including mechanics and cleaners, as well as jobs in part manufacturing and flow on<br />
industries.<br />
*7434 ROYAL FLYING DOCTOR SERVICE—Ms Gladys Berejiklian asked the Deputy Premier, Minister for<br />
Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce representing the Attorney General,<br />
Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for Health, Minister for the Central Coast, Vice President <strong>of</strong><br />
the Executive Council —<br />
In relation to the Royal Flying Doctor Service:<br />
(1) What are the Government's intentions in relation to the future <strong>of</strong> the Royal Flying Doctor Service?<br />
(2) What is the Government's response to community concerns about speculation that the Government<br />
may not renew the existing contract?<br />
(3) Does the Government agree that the service provides outstanding care for people in very remote<br />
parts <strong>of</strong> the State in addition to regional NSW?<br />

(1) (a) Has this commitment been completed?<br />
(b) If not, when will it be?<br />
(2) How will the information about less crowded services be provided to customers?<br />

*7436 LAYING OF 1080 BAITS—Mr Steve Cansdell asked the Minister for Education and Training, and<br />
Minister for Women representing the Minister for Primary Industries, Minister for Energy, Minister for<br />
Mineral Resources, Minister for State Development—<br />
(1) Is the Minister aware <strong>of</strong> the Livestock Health and Pest Authorities (LHPA) laying 1080 baits in the<br />
Pillar Valley area <strong>of</strong> the north coast during the months <strong>of</strong> June, July and August <strong>of</strong> 2009?<br />
(2) If so, what quantity <strong>of</strong> baits and what amount <strong>of</strong> 1080 in each bait?<br />
(3) Could the baits be responsible for a recently unusually high rate <strong>of</strong> kangaroo and wallaby deaths in<br />
