*7418 UPGRADE OF PUBLIC HOUSING—Mr Richard Amery asked the Minister for Housing, and Minister<br />

for Western Sydney—<br />

(1) Has the Department <strong>of</strong> Housing commenced a major upgrade <strong>of</strong> public housing in the Mount Druitt<br />

electorate?<br />

(2) Have the funds allocated by the State Government been supplemented by the Federal Government?<br />

(3) What are the amounts allocated by both the Federal and State Governments for Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Housing upgrades this financial year?<br />

(4) What is the current estimate <strong>of</strong> the number <strong>of</strong> persons who will be employed to meet this increase in<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Housing activity?<br />

Answer—<br />

(1) Yes.<br />

(2) and (3) As part <strong>of</strong> the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan the Australian Government has<br />

allocated $130 million to assist in reducing the backlog <strong>of</strong> maintenance. The NSW Government has also<br />

brought forward $200 million to supplement this and Housing NSW is contributing $140 million from<br />

existing budgets.<br />

(4) It is anticipated that the additional maintenance expenditure through the Nation Building Economic<br />

Stimulus Plan will support approximately 1,930 jobs across NSW.<br />

*7419 CEILING INSULATION REBATE—Mr Greg Aplin asked the Deputy Premier, Minister for Climate<br />

Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce—<br />

(1) How many residents in the Albury electorate have been recipients <strong>of</strong> the NSW Ceiling Insulation<br />

Rebate since 1 April 2007?<br />

(2) How many applications from residents in the Albury electorate are still under consideration?<br />

Answer—<br />

As at 15 September 2009:<br />

(1) 60 rebates have been paid.<br />

(2) 29.<br />

*7420 COMPLIANCE DIVISION—OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING—Mr Greg Aplin asked the Minister for Fair<br />

Trading, Minister for Citizenship, and Minister Assisting the Premier on the Arts—<br />

(1) How many staff are employed in the Compliance Division <strong>of</strong> the Office <strong>of</strong> Fair Trading?<br />

(2) What is the breakdown <strong>of</strong> the employment categories and number <strong>of</strong> staff in these categories?<br />

(3) How many staff, by category, resigned or left the Division during the financial years ending:<br />

(a) June 2007;<br />

(b) June 2008;<br />

(c) June 2009?<br />

Answer—<br />

The Office <strong>of</strong> Fair Trading advises me that:<br />

Compliance activities and responsibilities occur across many divisions under a whole <strong>of</strong> Fair Trading<br />

approach. This includes compliance advice at a consumer's initial point <strong>of</strong> contact right through to the<br />

resolution <strong>of</strong> a consumer complaint, the investigation and prosecution <strong>of</strong> illegal conduct as well as<br />

proactive compliance activities and programs undertaken throughout the state by a range <strong>of</strong> divisions.<br />

*7421 DIRECTIVE TO PUBLIC SERVANTS IN OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING—Mr Greg Aplin asked the<br />

Minister for Fair Trading, Minister for Citizenship, and Minister Assisting the Premier on the Arts—<br />

(1) Was a directive sent to <strong>of</strong>fices and agencies <strong>of</strong> the Office <strong>of</strong> Fair Trading this year directing local<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice staff not to speak to local electorate <strong>of</strong>fice staff or to the local member in relation to any<br />

enquiries?<br />

(2) If so:<br />

(a) Why was such a directive issued?<br />

(b) Who issued the directive?<br />

(c) Was this directive issued to all local <strong>of</strong>fices for Fair Trading in NSW or only those in non-Labor<br />

electorates?<br />
