LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
MONDAY 12 OCTOBER 2009
(2) (a) There is no conclusive evidence that the water supply was related to the outbreak. Results from
water samples taken on the morning of the reported illnesses did not provide a clear linkage to the
Smiggin Holes water supply.
(b) The water supply was interrupted on the afternoon of Wednesday 12 August 2009 causing loss of
water to lodges in Smiggin Holes. During the process of restoring the water supply, the normal
disinfection procedure failed, possibly allowing contaminants to reach the lodges.
(3) The Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water. During the incident, the Department
maintained close contact with lodge managers to provide information about the water supply and
general health information, in consultation with NSW Health. The Department also supplied bottled
water to lodges and followed-up with all lodges and affected guests.
The Department has reviewed its operating procedures for water supply interruptions to ensure that
this type of event does not occur again.
*7401 85 YEARS AND OVER DRIVING TEST—Mr Anthony Roberts asked the Minister for Roads—
(1) How many people in the Lane Cove electorate are required to undertake the mandatory "85 years and
over driving test" in 2009?
(2) What percentage of those people required to take the "85 years and over driving test" in 2008 were
successful in retaining their drivers licence?
Answer—
I am advised:
In the period 1 January 2009 to 31 August 2009, 482 letters were sent to drivers aged 85 years or more in
the Lane Cove electorate, advising them of their licensing options. In 2008, 78 per cent of aged drivers
that attempted a driving test passed and retained their licence.
*7402 COSTS OF USE OF ACT HOSPITALS—Mrs Jillian Skinner asked the Deputy Premier, Minister for
Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce representing the Attorney General,
Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for Health, Minister for the Central Coast, Vice President of
the Executive Council—
How much has the NSW Government paid the ACT Government to treat NSW patients in ACT hospitals
in:
(a) 2007-08; and
(b) 2008-09?
Answer—
I am advised:
Finalisation of the quantum of payment to the ACT for 2007-08 is likely to require an audit of ACT
records. This may take a number of months to complete. 2008⁄09 data is not due for exchange until the
end of February 2010.
