would the Premier please provide the following information:
(a) Name of NSW public school;
Answer—
The Premier has a strong commitment to public education and has visited 33 public schools since 8
October 2008.
NSW has a world class public education system, and the Government is committed to further enhancing
its quality. In the 2009-10 Budget, the NSW Government announced that a record $14.7 billion would be
invested in school education and vocational training across NSW. This funding will go towards
supporting the increase in school leaving age, with an additional $25 million over five years for new
capital infrastructure such as new classrooms, along with additional funding for staff and other measures
which will rise to around $100 million in 2012-13.
Other commitments to be funded in the Budget include enhancing the quality and retention of permanent
new teachers, investing in the new Bilingual Schools Program, and funding programs for students with
disabilities, indigenous students, students speaking English as a second language and students in rural
areas.
