Answer—<br />

(1) and (2) All schools are required to complete a census <strong>of</strong> students on the first Friday in August every<br />

year through the National Schools Statistics Collections. Information for <strong>New</strong> <strong>South</strong> Wales<br />

Government Schools is compiled by the Data Collection Unit and submitted to the Commonwealth<br />

in <strong>No</strong>vember - 2009 data will not be available until then.<br />

The data trend from 2004-2008 shows an increase in the percentage <strong>of</strong> Aboriginal students over the<br />

past five years for the schools queried that is consistent with the state average.<br />

*7374 INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE AND FAMILY ARCHIVAL UNIT—Mr Kevin Humphries asked the<br />

Premier, and Minister for the Arts—<br />

(1) Could the Premier please advise on any update regarding a proposal to develop an Indigenous<br />

Knowledge and Family Archival Unit in Moree?<br />

(2) Additionally, will the Government commit to developing the Knowledge Centres and Keeping Places<br />

across the State <strong>of</strong> NSW?<br />

Answer—<br />

(1) I understand that there has been a proposal developed for the Dhiiyaan Indigenous Centre, currently<br />

located in the Moree Branch <strong>of</strong> the <strong>No</strong>rthern Regional Library, to become a stand-alone entity. Arts<br />

NSW has provided $20,000 in funding to engage a consultant to undertake a full concept and cost<br />

analysis <strong>of</strong> the Centre's plan.<br />

(2) I am also advised that Arts NSW is developing a NSW Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Strategy which<br />

will consider Aboriginal Knowledge Centres and Keeping Places. <strong>No</strong>t for pr<strong>of</strong>it organisations, cooperatives<br />

or trusts or local government authorities are generally eligible for funding under the Arts<br />

NSW Arts Funding Program for program costs, capital works and strategic development initiatives.<br />

*7375 BOX ROAD SYLVANIA—Mr Malcolm Kerr asked the Minister for Roads—<br />

What is the result <strong>of</strong> the traffic study undertaken by the Roads and Traffic Authority to investigate the<br />

impacts <strong>of</strong> opening Box Road to through traffic at Port Hacking Road, Sylvania?<br />

Answer—<br />

I am advised:<br />

A study identifying the impacts <strong>of</strong> opening Box Road at Port Hacking Road, Sylvania is currently being<br />

finalised.<br />

*7376 MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS—CRONULLA ELECTORATE—Mr Malcolm Kerr asked the<br />

Minister for Finance, Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Regulatory Reform, and Minister for Ports<br />

and Waterways—<br />

(1) How many motor vehicle accidents occurred in the Cronulla electorate in the 2007-2008 period?<br />

(2) How many were found to be <strong>of</strong> no fault?<br />

Answer—<br />

(1) This is a matter for the Minister for Roads.<br />

(2) The Motor Accidents Authority advise that for the 2007-2008 period, six compulsory third party<br />

(CTP) claims for no-fault benefits were lodged with NSW licensed CTP insurers relating to road<br />

crashes in the Cronulla electorate.<br />

*7377 WAGGA WAGGA BASE HOSPITAL—Mr Daryl Maguire asked the Deputy Premier, Minister for<br />

Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce representing the Attorney General,<br />

Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for Health, Minister for the Central Coast, Vice President <strong>of</strong><br />

the Executive Council—<br />

(1) How long did the Service Procurement Plan take to develop at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and<br />

what were the start and finish dates?<br />

(2) How long did the Project Definition Planning take to complete and what were the start and finish<br />

dates?<br />

(3) How long do you expect the part 3A planning application to take for the Wagga Wagga Base<br />

Hospital?<br />
