The NSW Fire Brigades is currently targeting locations for CFUs in the following areas:<br />
• Shoal⁄Nelson Bay,<br />
• Blue Mountains,<br />
• Upper <strong>No</strong>rth Shore,<br />
• <strong>No</strong>rthmead,<br />
• Sutherland⁄Cronulla,<br />
• Mittagong⁄Bowral,<br />
• Umina, and<br />
• Western Plains Zoo<br />
(2) The building <strong>of</strong> a new fire station at Baulkham Hills.<br />
(3) The City <strong>of</strong> Sydney will be receiving a 44 Metre Bronto ladder platform valued at $1.778 million.<br />
(4) The figures quoted in 2009-2010 budget relate to increases in the contract for specialist fire engines<br />
and rescue vehicles funded in previous financial years as well as minor specialist vehicles that are<br />
not be stationed at particular fire stations.<br />
(5) In 2009-10 funding has been provided for 16 new NSW Fire Brigades engines as part <strong>of</strong> its ongoing<br />
fleet replacement program. <strong>New</strong> appliances will be allocated to stations in accordance with<br />
operational requirements.<br />
(6) All fire stations are allocated a share <strong>of</strong> funds from this program. The specific disbursement to a<br />
station will vary according to the station configuration. It is estimated that on average $10,544 will<br />
be spent on each fire station during 2009-10.<br />

With reference to Housing NSW new works allocations in Budget <strong>Paper</strong> <strong>No</strong>. 4 <strong>of</strong> the 2009-10 Budget<br />
<strong>Paper</strong>s:<br />
(1) What is classified as "crisis accommodation" as stated in the Housing NSW allocation?<br />
(2) Where will the "crisis accommodation" be located?<br />
(3) Where will the "social housing - new supply" be located?<br />
(4) What locations in the Hornsby electorate will have properties built from the "nation building -<br />
economic stimulus plan stage 1 - new supply" allocation?<br />
(5) What locations in the Hornsby electorate will have properties built from the "nation building -<br />
economic stimulus plan stage 2 - new supply" allocation?<br />
Answer—<br />
(1) Information regarding the Crisis Accommodation Program is contained on the Housing NSW<br />
website.<br />
(2) The Crisis Accommodation Projects will be located in various areas throughout NSW, based on the<br />
demand for crisis accommodation.<br />
(3) The new supply <strong>of</strong> social housing will be located in various areas throughout NSW, based on the<br />
demand for social housing.<br />

*7372 STUDENT ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION RATE—Mr Kevin Humphries asked the Minister<br />
for Education and Training, and Minister for Women—<br />
What strategies are being employed by the Minister's department to improve the student attendance and<br />
participation rate in schools the Minister recently visited in the Barwon electorate:<br />
(a) Walgett;<br />
(b) Brewarrina;<br />
(c) Bourke?<br />
Answer—<br />
All schools in these three towns are meeting the Department <strong>of</strong> Education and Training requirements and<br />
guidelines regarding attendance and participation. In addressing and exceeding the requirements the<br />
schools have taken the following approach:<br />
• revised their administrative processes during 2008-09;<br />
• developed a range <strong>of</strong> intervention strategies for students who are not attending on a regular basis;<br />
• implemented revised curriculum programs to promote engagement; and<br />
• continued to work with the local community around issues related to attendance.<br />
