*7369 POLICE ALLOCATION—EASTWOOD COMMAND—Mrs Judy Hopwood asked the Minister for
Planning, and Minister for Redfern Waterloo representing the Minister for Police, Minister for Lands, and
Minister for Rural Affairs—
(1) How many police of the Eastwood Command are allocated to the Dural area over a 24-hour period?
(2) How is the roster configured and what taskings are used?
Answer—
The NSW Police Force has advised me:
(1) and (2) The number of officers and vehicles deployed to the Dural area varies from day to day
subject to priorities and demand. The Eastwood Local Area Command's roster is intelligence-based
and ensures the Command meets its First Response commitments, allowing for the deployment of
additional general duties and specialist police officers and vehicles as required.
*7370 FIRE BRIGADE BUDGET ALLOCATION—Mrs Judy Hopwood asked the Minister for Emergency
Services, and Minister for Small Business—
With reference to New South Wales Fire Brigades new works allocations in Budget Paper No. 4 of the
2009-10 Budget Papers:
(1) What locations will receive funding for new "community-based mobile firefighting trailer units" as
allocated?
(2) What works are included in the "Greater Sydney area strategic program" allocation?
(3) What fire stations will receive funding for the "replacement of extension ladder fire engines"
allocation?
(4) What fire stations will receive funding for the "replacement of specialist fire engines and rescue
vehicles" allocation?
(5) What fire stations will receive funding for the "replacement of station fire engines" allocation?
(6) What fire stations will receive funding for the "station communication equipment maintenance and
replacement" allocation?
Answer—
(1) Funding is allocated to areas according to risk-based methodology. All Fire Districts in NSW are
being assessed to target high to very high risk areas. The establishment of a Community Fire Unit
(CFU) is one of the options for treating a particular identified risk but is dependent on the
commitment of members of the local community to staffing a CFU.
