in place or underway. The Blueprint will set the Government's strategic transport planning agenda for the
next 25 years and will be developed alongside the major review of the Metropolitan Strategy - so that
Sydney's transport planning and land use planning are inextricably linked.
The Government has appointed an independent reference panel of experts to provide advice during the
development of the Blueprint.
*7325 DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS COSTS—CURRAWONG—Mr Rob Stokes asked the Minister for
Planning, and Minister for Redfern Waterloo—
(1) What costs have been incurred by the Department of Planning in the assessment of the heritage
values and development proposals for Currawong since the Minister referred this matter to an expert
panel in December 2007?
(2) What proportion of these costs have been recovered from the proponent?
Answer—
(1) The Department incurred costs of $99,768 for the Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel and
$33,329 for the Ministerial Review Panel.
(2) The Proponent was charged a project application fee of $134,687, which included fees for the
Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel.
*7326 DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL—CAREEL BAY—Mr Rob Stokes asked the Minister for Planning, and
Minister for Redfern Waterloo—
(1) (a) Is the Minister currently assessing a development proposal submitted by Austral Monsoon
Industries Pty Limited in relation to a site at Careel Bay in Avalon?
(b) If yes, what is the current status of any development proposal?
(2) (a) Has the Minister had any discussions with representatives of or agents for Austral Monsoon
Industries Pty Limited in her role as Minister for Planning?
(b) If yes, what were the nature of those discussions?
Answer—
(1) (a) and (b) The recent decision of the Land and Environment Court in relation to this matter means
that the current application is still on foot. I understand the Department of Planning has asked
Austral Monsoon Industries Pty Limited to confirm whether it wishes to proceed with the current
proposal. As yet no response has been received.
(2) (a) and( b) The Minister has not had any discussions with representatives of agents for Austral
Monsoon Industries Pty Ltd.
*7327 SWIMMING POOL COMPLEX—Mr Rob Stokes asked the Minister for Education and Training, and
Minister for Women—
(1) Has your department had any discussions regarding the grant of a lease, licence or any other right
over Department of Education land at Narrabeen Sports High for the purpose of constructing a
swimming pool complex?
(2) If yes, what was the nature of these discussions and what is the current position of any discussions or
negotiations?
Answer—
During negotiations for a lease that commenced in 2007 for the construction and operation of a
gymnasium on land at Narrabeen Sports High School the lessee had considered including a pool in the
facilities.
Land at Narrabeen Sports High School has been leased to Pittwater Sports Centre for the construction
and operation of a gymnasium and other associated facilities. A pool is not included in the facilities
proposed under the lease.
The lessee subsequently canvassed with the school the potential to construct a pool at a later stage. I am
advised that the school community was not receptive to constructing a pool on the school site.
I understand that there are no ongoing negotiations for a pool on the Narrabeen Sports High School site.
*7328 PACIFIC HIGHWAY TRAFFIC VOLUMES—Mr Andrew Stoner asked the Minister for Roads—
In relation to the Pacific Highway and traffic volumes:
(1) Has the NSW Government, together with the RTA, undertaken modelling for traffic projections
