Our story is a thoroughly British tale.
From humble beginnings in a simple
workshop in London, the Parker Knoll
business steadily grew over time. Its
home for many years was in the heart of
Chipping Norton, and today the business
is firmly based in Riddings, Derbyshire.
Throughout its incredible 140 year
history, Parker Knoll has established itself
at the heart of furniture manufacturing in
the United Kingdom.
In 1869 Frederick Parker created the
chair making business that was to
become Parker Knoll and quickly
established the business as a high
quality upholstery manufacturer. He
took pride in designing and developing
the finest furniture, using the best of
British craftsmanship. Those founding
principles remain at the core of our
business, and our dedicated team of
craftsmen and women, based in rural
Derbyshire, bring their experience and
high standards to production today.
Market Leading Design
At Parker Knoll innovation is a way
of life. Our founder was a highly
creative designer, who continually
sought to improve and innovate
the way furniture could be made
to enhance the seating experience.
His partnership with Willi Knoll
showed his breadth of vision,
embracing a radical new concept,
which ensured that Parker Knoll were
the first furniture company to use a
revolutionary new spring system.
This innovation would ultimately
set new standards for comfort in
domestic upholstery. Consequently,
if you mention the word “recliner”
today, people will instinctively think
of Parker Knoll.
