Schoolnews From Sarah Briggs Christmas memories Winter2013 Les Nouvelles 27 Happy New Year from all the pupils and staff at St Martin's School. 2013 is going to be an exciting year for us all. Thanks to all the hard work of those who have been involved in the development of the new Parish School, 2013 will see the start of the new school being built. This is such an amazing opportunity and, although the journey to get this far has been sometimes long and complicated, the final destination is in our sights; to be involved in the development of a new school is a huge privilege and we will keep you updated over the next 24 months. Of course although there has been much work involved in planning the new school, work within the current school has continued at some pace and, once again, our Christmas celebrations were all rather memorable. Christmas is always a special time within a school as it is a time when the whole community comes together to celebrate. Deco Day started off our festive celebrations, a day when parents and friends come and join in with festive activities as we decorate the school. The added bonus of a renowned St Martin’s School cake sale made sure that that Christmas was well and truly underway and the cakes looked and tasted delicious and, with all the decorations up, Christmas had arrived at St Martin’s! Our Christmas celebrations began with our choir singing to a whole host of different audiences which included the St Martin’s Diamond Club, the Grainville School Cluster Carol Service, the Airport and our end of term celebration. In addition Nursery preformed a range of Christmas songs to their families and enjoyed the opportunity to sing in front of an audience and also dress up in a host of different costumes. Our Key Stage 1 children took part in the production of Hey Ewe which was performed on two afternoons. All of the children were involved in singing, acting, reading and all enjoyed performing in front of their friends and families. Below: Deco Day The Christmas Jigsaw was performed by the Key Stage 2 children at the Methodist Church Christmas. The children certainly gave us all a festive fizzle and it was a great way to finish a busy and successful term. St Martin’s School is very much like a jigsaw puzzle. Everyone involved is different and unique, each with their own individual qualities, but when we come together we create a picture that we are all very proud of.
