ROViTO SET UP THE FILTER
1. - Place the jar on a high place so that water can be
easily obtained;
2. - Put a layer of charcoal about 3cms thick, on the bottom
of the jar;
3. - Place a 5cms thick layer of gravel on top of the charcoat
4. - Cover the gravel with sand, about 30cms thick;
5. - Put a plate or pieces of tile on the sand;
6. - Fill the jar with water. Wait until water that pours down
is clear, to avoid the impurities which can be found in the
filtering materials;
7. - Cover the filter when not in use;
8. - When the flow of water slows, clean the jar, remove the
top 5cms of sand and replace it with clean sand.
BOIL WATER IF YOU
ARE TO DRINK IT
Filtered water is clear but can remain harmful since it can
still contain microbes, not visible to the naked eye, which can go
through the filtering materials.
Therefore, we should boil filtered water before drinking it,
to kill any microbes living in it.
When we boil water, we must wait until it bubbles, creating
continuous waves on its surface, thus indicating that the boiling point
is reached.
Let the water boil for about 5 minutes.
Put the boiled water in bottles or containers with a moutpiece
and a lid.

CHLORINATE WATER IF YOU ARE TO DRINK IT
If you do not have time to boil filtered water, or if you have
a family so large that supplying it with boiled water is quite a problem,
you can use bleaching fluid to kill microbes and germs in water.
8 drops of bleaching fluid are sufficient to kill all microbes
living in one liter of filtered water. Stir well and wait for 15 minutes
before using your water which is now pure.
KEEP YOUR SUPPLY OF FILTERED AND BOILED WATER CLEAN
1. - Clean jars and containers before and after use;
2. - Always keep your jars well covered;
3. - Draw water with a long handled ladle;
4. Clean the bottles or containers of boiled water ev(~ry
week with soap and water;
5. - Cover them after use.
