WORDS ARE AIRPLANES
Airplanes can carry you through the air from Saigon to Hue.
Words can carry your thoughts through the air from your heart to
the hearts of other people. Words are marvelous airplanes.
They can carry many kinds of thoughts: happy ones or sad ones,
serious ones or silly ones. You and your friends understand each
other because you all use the same kinds of words. But do you
understand an American or a Japanese or a Thai when he speaks?
Maybe not, because, although he has the same feelings and ideas
as you, he uses different words to express them. Most people in.
the world do not speak Vietnamese. They speak other languages.
In order to be able to talk to them you should learn their
languages. Do you know how to speak properly to our many American
friends who are in Vietnam to defend our country? Here are just
a few sentences you might practice and tryout:
HELLO
HOW DO YOU DO, SIR?
HOW ARE YOU, SIR?
I .AM FINE
THANK YOU
MAY I HELP YOU?
DO YOU LIKE VIETNAM?
WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
