Tanzania Multi Stakeholder Map - WebNG

During the panel discussion after paper presentations, there was a challenge to
all participants to discuss which was that what are the strategies in place to
promote agro-products produced from pesticides alternatives. Participants
contributed that more research is needed to demonstrate efficacy of pesticides
alternatives and their cost. For example the cost of IPM, Organic farming etc. has
to be lower than use of pesticides otherwise alternatives will not work. The
groundwork has to be carried out because most of these alternatives can be
more expensive and there might be a need for government to subsidise them in
order to promote the technology and the market. Market development strategy is
very important. At the end of this project we need to have facts and figures for
demonstration purposes.
It was then asked that who is going to oversee the implementation of project
activities in Tanzania and the reaction was that overall coordination of the project
is the responsibility of PAN UK, PAN AFRICA is coordinating the Africa region
and AGENDA and TPAWU are coordinating the project in Tanzania. It was then
suggested that Stakeholders review meetings is enough to oversee the
implementation of the project, no need of specific stakeholders forum.
