PALISADES’ STUDENT-ATHLETES CONTINUE ATHLETIC CAREERS AT<br />
THE COLLEGIATE LEVEL:<br />
Rebecca George, Director of Athletics for <strong>Palisades</strong> announced: student-athletes,<br />
Justin Marsh (Football/Wrestling), Kurt Gildea (Football), Collin Blaydon (XC), Sage<br />
Weikel (XC/Track), and Tyler Krchnavi (Basketball) have all decided to continue their<br />
athletic career while attending their respective college and or university.<br />
Bio for Student-Athlete, Justin Marsh – Worchester Polytechnic Institute:<br />
<strong>Palisades</strong> High <strong>School</strong>’s student athlete, Justin Marsh, will be attending Worcester<br />
Polytechnic Institute located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Justin will be majoring in<br />
Aeronautical Engineering. He plans to play football and wrestle for the WPI Engineers.<br />
Athletic Accomplishments:<br />
Football<br />
Started playing football with the <strong>Palisades</strong> Youth Football Association then<br />
continued playing at <strong>Palisades</strong> Middle <strong>School</strong>. He then played four years at the<br />
high school as linebacker and running back.<br />
Four years Varsity Letter Winner.<br />
Team Captain as a Junior (2010) and Senior (2011).<br />
All-Colonial League 2010 Honorable Mention.<br />
2012 National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete.<br />
2012 Maxwell Club Honorable Mention<br />
Volunteered and acted as a mentor to the youth football players.<br />
Wrestling<br />
Started wrestling with the <strong>Palisades</strong> Youth Wrestling Association then continued<br />
wrestling <strong>Palisades</strong> Middle <strong>School</strong>. He then wrestled for Omar Porrata four years<br />
at the high school.<br />

Four years as Team Captain.<br />

<strong>Palisades</strong> High <strong>School</strong>’s student athlete, Kurt Gildea, will be attending Misericordia<br />
University next fall to study Pre-Medicine and play on their first upcoming football team.<br />

Started Playing Football for <strong>Palisades</strong> Pop Warner Football program at age eight<br />
starting on offense and defense as a Fullback and Middle Linebacker<br />
respectively<br />
Continued playing at <strong>Palisades</strong> Middle <strong>School</strong> as Middle Linebacker and was<br />
captain and play caller on the defense<br />
Freshman and Sophomore Year played on JV team as a Middle Linebacker<br />

Junior Year- Sidelined the whole year due to a knee injury. Helped out with<br />
linebackers during the season.<br />

In addition to athletics, Kurt Gildea is a member of the Medical Career Pathway program,<br />

an Orthopedic Surgeon.<br />

Collin J. Blaydon will attend Penn State Altoona starting fall 2012 and plans to run on<br />
Penn State's Altoona Cross Country team<br />

Sage said, “Cross Country and Track have been an integral part of my life. While<br />

sparked the fire in my heart to grow up and run as fast as them. Now, in my senior year,<br />
I have broken the school record in my 4x800 split and hope to break the actual 800<br />
record by the end of the season. I cannot wait to run in college.”<br />

<strong>Palisades</strong> High <strong>School</strong>’s student-athlete, Tyler Krchnavi, will be going to Northampton<br />
Community College, w<strong>here</strong> he has been accepted to major in the Communication<br />
Design field and w<strong>here</strong> he will be playing basketball.<br />

has applied himself in advanced placement courses including AP German and AP<br />
Calculus.
