generation of SH High Performance
truck-mounted cranes was clearly for the
benefit for the user. So we at PALFINGER
asked the very people who work with
our products day in, day out and know
what is important. We wanted to know
from ambitious crane operators and
experienced contractors: “What should
the perfect truck-mounted crane be
like?” Our designers and electronics specialists
implemented requests in respect
of efficiency, user-friendliness, comfort,
safety and profitability to deliver truckmounted
cranes that conform to the
accepted rules of crane design.
Among other things, crane operators
want machines that have a range of uses
thanks to perfectly coordinated supplementary
equipment. That is reason
enough to dedicate this edition to a
detailed look at the topic of equipment.
We show that PALFINGER emerges as a

The PALFINGER crane as
a multifunctional machine.
Equipped with the appropriate attachment, the crane becomes
a multi-functional machine and works cost-effectively. Hydraulic
or mechanical – the PALFINGER Equipment Center offers an
extensive range of attachments and equipment to turn the
crane into a flexible tool with a variety of uses.
A huge selection of rotators, grabs, pallet and wallboard forks,
brick stack grabs, container emptying and mast insertion attachments
are available from the “PALFINGER made by Kinshofer”
range. The long-established partnership with the German
system supplier is marked by close and constructive cooperation.
PALFINGER’s input is incorporated in development, leads
continuously to the refinement of details and ensures the high
product quality that is now familiar. Workman baskets designed
to meet country-specific safety requirements, earth augers as
well as towing and weighing systems complete the range of
attachments.
PALFINGER is also perfectly set up to provide mounting
accessories (pumps, tanks, oil coolers, auxiliary stabilizers,
subframes, assembly units, and rear mounting brackets). The

The much cited High Performance motto “We‘ve made the best
even better!” also applies, of course, to all crane equipment.
The new range of workman baskets is presented with numerous
detailed improvements.
The new workman baskets have been developed specifically to
meet our customers‘ demanding requirements in accordance
with workman basket standard EN280. Apart from the low
dead weight due to a steel and aluminum construction, the new
workman baskets stand out by virtue of space optimization and
their electronically controlled, continuously variable leveling.

HPX-E.
New paths in grab technology.
Machines must be able to respond easily to rapid changes in
requirements on the construction site. Here, the new HPX-E
bucket drive system with exchangeable shells proves to be an
ideal and unbeatable tool in everyday use. Customers benefit
not only from the bucket‘s constant high closing force but also
from the first real quick-change system in bucket and grab
operation. The bucket is extremely rugged thanks to its compact
design. The HPX-E owes its flexibility and versatility to the huge
diversity of exchangeable shells.
Straightforward quick-change bucket system.
The shells and buckets of the HPXdrive Standard can be
exchanged quickly and easily thanks to the HPX-E quick changer.
The shells can be exchanged in only four minutes without bolts
simply by removing and replacing two connecting pins. This
means that one drive unit can be used to refit different types
of shells extremely fast for different applications, e.g. clamshell
bucket, multi-purpose clamshell, rock grab, timber grab, hay
and forestry grab. The exchangeable shells are delivered with
exchange aids that hold the shells in position and guarantee that
the drive can easily be positioned on the shells.
The advantages of the HPXdrive technology combined with the
time saved due to quick and straightforward bucket changing
make this system indispensable for local authorities and one-man
businesses.

UNCONVENTIONAL.
The right solution for EVERY assignment.
Substantiating the motto, “Never say never”, PALFINGER Equipment
Center also offers a large number of special fittings that one
would probably never expect to find on a truck-mounted crane.
Unconventional maintenance, installation and manipulation jobs
call for equally unconventional solutions. It goes without saying
that special manipulators, vacuum glass lifting attachments and
other special solutions are also available upon request.
The example below shows how a classic truck-mounted crane
becomes a special machine with most precise tuned movements
mounted on an all-terrain caterpillar vehicle (realized by
PALFINGER Germany and the company Wemo-tec).
Intelligent equipment like this vacuum glass manipulator delivers a perfect
performance during the installation of glass elements weighing up to 650 kg.

“What should the perfect truck-mounted crane be like?”
The crane should make use
of all its power and even be able to
go one better if necessary.
“S-HPLS”
for maximum power.
PALFINGER High Performance cranes are true powerhouses due
to their geometry and technology. Intelligent electronic systems
for increasing the lifting power come into their own in situations
where more power is needed on the short term. The new
S-HPLS offers a 5% increase in lifting capacity compared to the
established E-HPLS. Unlike the E-HPLS, which is switched on
manually, activation of the SH system is fully automated. The
lifting power is increased continuously when necessary.
The crane should “think actively” and guide me safely, particularly in limited situations.
Comfort and safety.
With the Paltronic 150, PALFINGER offers a high-end electronic
solution for the series-production crane. Numerous safety and
comfort functions are controlled via the “crane‘s brain”.
Greater safety and comfort due to “soft stop”
Sensors detect the angle of main boom and knuckle boom to
increase user-friendliness and safety. A signal is transmitted
continuously to the Paltronic 150 and the crane‘s movements
are monitored intelligently.
The perfect truck-mounted crane should be comfortable and operator-friendly,
easy to control and give me a feeling of security.
A new function recently implemented by PALFINGER is the electronic
limit position damper, referred to as the “soft stop”. This
brings about gentle braking of all the crane‘s movements before
the mechanical end stop is reached. This means that jerky movements
and load collisions due to swinging loads can be prevented
in order to protect the driver, the load and the vehicle.

with graphic display.
PALFINGER High Performance cranes are operator-friendly and
easy to control. In the SH models, the state-of-the-art radio
remote control provides the operator via the LCD graphic display
with precise information about a variety of operating conditions
such as capacity usage, active systems, servicing intervals
or movements currently accessible. It is even possible to provide
an accurate visual display of the position of the stabilizers. It is
easy to navigate through the menus and to switch to the actual
functions desired by using four softkey functions and four menu
buttons. The operator is guided clearly and safely in peripheral
limit areas. The indicator on the display directs the crane operator,
helping him to keep a cool head in any situation and to
make the right decision.
Ease of maintenance
and reduced maintenance expenditure
PALFINGER SH cranes are designed in every detail for ease of
servicing and maintenance. Functional design elements, easy
accessibility to components, simple installation and removal of
components and the intelligent diagnostic software PALDIAG
are just some examples of this. The maintenance-free extension
system significantly reduces the usual maintenance expenditure.
No further servicing work is required after one-off initial lubrication
using a special food grade grease. A clean appearance of
crane, vehicle and a workplace (no dripping lubricates) are an
added bonus.
Service made easy. The new PALFINGER radio remote control
is completely integrated into the data bus system of the SH
series so that all data and parameters can be managed centrally.
Integration into the CAN bus of the overall system means that
diagnostics can be run by connecting directly to PALFINGER’s
diagnostic software. As a result, it is a breeze for PALFINGER’s
global service team to set the perfect parameters for each
customer‘s controller and to carry out a diagnostic if servicing is
required.
Ease of servicing and as little maintenance expenditure
as possible are always right at the top of my wish list.

In many cases, a cable winch is the most important accessory
when using a telescopic crane and the power of the winch
has a significant effect on the efficiency of the whole crane.
Equipping models of the PC range with an 800 kg cable winch
